I can’t stand it when waiters/cashiers/taxi drivers eavesdrop on my conversations and try to join in. I know you’re just trying to be friendly, but it really creeps me out. I don’t know you. You’re not my friend.

Ohh jeeze, sorry your highness. Lowly cashiers shouldn’t speak to the all mighty customer. I hated assholes like you when I did cash.
you know what the solution is? same as when youd on’t feel like talking to someone you do know- the old cold shoulder will make them stop, and go mutter what a bitch you were to their coworkers. these folks have jobs that are brian meltingly boring and most of the time are treated like they’re just another machine in their workplace…cut em some slack and say hello! they’re people too.
Speak when spoken to, when asked an opinion give neutral “breeze over” response, collect tab, receive tip & live to die another day.
