There used to be something I looked forward to every week. Every Thursday I would eagerly grab the paper, read the horoscopes, and then swiftly turn to the events pages. Everything was listed! It was glorious! Lectures, Musical Events, Art shows! It was so lovely to not have to refer to facebook or to the internet to see what was going on in my city. I could sit outside on my lunch break, or spread the paper open on my kitchen table, a few of us hunched over it. I knew about the big shows, and the little one’s too, the shows that my friends were playing off the beaten path, the monthly star-gazing meetings at the planetarium. There was something nostalgic about this ritual. And now it’s gone. The website I have to refer to is not easy to navigate, and I think the couple of extra pages were worth publishing. Let me read about my city without staring at a screen! Please! —What to do?

  1. Yes, let’s continue the decimation of our forests so we can enjoy our “magical ritual”. Get over it.

  2. Bring back the entertainment listings! It’s 80 percent of the reason I pick up this rag. Please.

  3. Yes, please publish the ‘quick, down and dirty info. pages then a person could cart them around if they want and read that anyplace. Not everyone on earth has constant access to a ‘device’. Meanwhile, considering the level of most of the ‘articles’ recently save the forest by not printing those and put them on-line for those who wish to e-read them.

Or just go back to printing the whole farking thing. After all when in another town I pick up these type of info mags to find out what is happening and where not read a ton of local based news – though it may be interesting if one has the time and inclination to bother with it. After all reading the COAST now generally ain’t what it used to be for front line, cutting edge items. Often seems to be more of a mid age adzene lately.
