On the 81 Wednesday morning, the bus stops on Robie St (near young & Robie intersection) the drive turns off the bus & says he has to get one for the cause (a coffee from tim’s) and leaves the door open. I call transit to report it I was told he is entitled to a 15 minute break!

As far as I am concerned it should not be in the middle of his route and leave his bus on the side of the road! And they want to increase fairs! —pissed transit user

  1. I agree with Bon on this one again (holy fuck I think the world is going to implode). I always thought drivers had to take their breaks at the end of a route, and it’s not THAT far from Young/Robie and the end of the 81 route. AND there’s a tim’s at scotia square so WTF?

  2. He’s letting all your nasty b.o air out.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, uh but, really who is going to steal a bus? You are? and park it where, in front your house?

  3. very good zZz. go big or go home comes to mind. your avatar is messin with me mind donkster

  4. Drivers are not entitled to breaks. If the route allows it (i.e. there are breaks at certain stops and the driver is not running behind), then the driver can certainly leave the bus and get a coffee or whatever.

  5. Wow…. I congratulate the OP on this one, The driver is entitled to the break, especially if nature calls, labour law states that your employer is not allowed to say no to bathroom breaks!

  6. Until Renaissance Faires manage to do a passable rendition of Hanging, Drawing & Quartering, they shall see no further ducats of mine.

  7. Seriously? Pulling over to use the bathroom is perfectly OK in the middle of a route, when you gotta go, you gotta go. Pulling over in the middle of a route to get Tim’s is not OK.

  8. Well, I kind of think that if the driver was dozing off at the wheel because of lack of caffeine, I would rather wait 5 min so the driver can get a coffee than die on my way to work or home. And if the driver needed sugar due to diabetes or something, I’d rather wait 10 minutes so that the driver will not go into insulin shock while driving. But if it was “just because there was a Tim’s”, well…the driver should have waited until it was a more appropriate time. I mean, Tim’s are EVERYWHERE.

  9. Yep, and if you can, do two things at once. Enter store, order coffee, use washroom, wash hands, pay for coffee, get on bus.
