I attended a funeral today in a church by the armdale rotary. It was a very sad occasion where a young man’s life was cut short. The parking lot was filled to capacity and people parked anywhere they could. As I was leaving the church along with a couple hundred other mourners, I saw an HRM meter maid writing parking tickets on the cars that were located across from the church!
Do you ghouls actually read the obituaries and then zoom off to the funerals just so you can make your quotas? Why don’t you just stay home on your ex-military pensions instead of working into your mid-seventies to be tax collectors? It really shows a lack of class especially when most of your people are one step out of the grave yourselves. —Fed Up

no, they don’t read the obits column, sorry to say. they see a car parked where it’s npt sposed to be, they put a ticket on it. if the vehicles were not in a designated spot, then they are fair game. not everyone goes to church, of funeral, and they still park there too.
I have to agree with Life Sucks, the parking police don’t know if the owner of the offending vehicle is at the funeral even if they were predisposed to give the bereaving person a break. They have a job to do, not a popular one, but a job to do.
Thanks for the heads up OP! Anyone looking for free parking just park outside of a church, especially if there are a lot of people dressed in black!
If the sign says “No parking” it means NO PARKING. Learn to read next time. Now go pay your ticket.
Should have rode your bike!
Should have rode my bike?? Yes I would have rode my bike to the funeral in my biking shorts and shown disrespect to the other mourners. (not everyone in this city is a granola eating anarchist)
Luckily, I’m not lazy and I have a job that allows me to be able to afford a car.
Hmm..If I saw a church parking lot filled to capacity in the middle of the week and also saw a large group of people in dark clothing; I might have the common sense to realize that a funeral was taking place. I might even use some discretion and cut some people some slack and come back in an hour or so and then ticket the cars still there.
What make you any different then anyone else. Why shouldn’t you get a ticket when you are parked where you shouldn’t be.
Get over yourself what makes you so entitled?
Why don’t you just stay home on your ex-military pensions instead of working into your mid-seventies to be tax collectors?
ummm, not Commissionaires.
Thanks for playing.
You know what I agree with the OP, mourners should be cut some slack.
Go to court and explain to the judge why you should be able to park where ever the hell you want.
Let me know when. I’ll bring a bowl of popcirn.
Just pay the frigging ticket, and next time park legally fer corn’s sake.
You are not lazy, you have a job and can afford a car. Well in that case you can also no doubt afford items called taxis, or transit buses. And if you needed transport to a graveyard service arrange to travel with others. Yes, it may be an inconvenience but funerals, sad and tragic as they may be, etc. do not allow one to break laws. I have been attending funerals in this city for over 50 years and have never expected to always be able to park within several blocks of any given church etc. The location alone is often a key factor in choice of how to get there.
