Been waiting since March 5, 2016 for a neurologist AND mental health practitioner for stroke patient. Finally get an appointment with mental health and get to office and find the doc called in sick. Come back in a month which is the earliest we can get you in. Two days before Christmas. Cast-iron receptionist without any visible warmth or compassion in her tone. It might be “free” medical care, but if you haven’t got the money to seek out a shrink, it will NOT be a timely appointment by any means!! I wonder how many suicides are the result of callous handling? And why isn’t mental health considered an automatic addition to treating brain injuries? What a frigging mind-blowing GAP in health care. —Frustrated wife of stroke survivor

Don’t even get me started on our rotten health care system. I still haven’t forgiven it for robbing my partner of his mobility for 10 years thanks to a misdiagnosis & meds that literally froze his muscles. Not one doctor, not one fucking specialist picked up on that. Good luck with finding a health professional who actually gives a shit.
Socialized medicine for ya.
