Being woke up at 3:50 am on a Monday morning by the blaring music of Matt Mays and El Torpedo isn’t a very nice way to start the week. To the crew filming the Matt Mays video in the south end . . . have some respect for people that work during the week!!! The volume was rediculous and the drums were a bullshit touch at 5:00 am. I have now been up since 3:50 am and I have to be at work at 8:00 am while you inconsiderate assholes go to bed after a night of hard work. Fuck You.

Matt Mays used to be somewhat respectable when he started out with the Guthries (remember them?) but then he decided to go on his own and make a big name for himself and where is he now? Well he’s big in Halifax….OOOOHHHH! Big fuckin deal. It’s the same thing with Joel Plaskett. Let’s all fawn over these boys because they’re local (not because they’re good). Reality check – Garrett Mason, who has more talent in his pinky, has a Juno award, these posers don’t.

My bad with Plaskett’s Junos, but that still doesn’t make him good. Popularity will get you Junos but again, popularity doesn’t make you good. I’m sure Britney Spears has won a few awards too, nuff said on that.
If Matt Mays is so good, tell him to rent a soundstage or some other abandoned building so he doesn’t have to keep ‘assholes’ up till 5am.And yeah. I bet ‘fans’ would love to hear the same song over and over and over again, especially broken down into various parts over and over and over again, because, well, they’re making a video, not playing a show.Noise bylaws? The HRM bends over for anything video/movie related. They bring a lot of money to town.

For your information, none of the band, and almost none of the crew, went to bed after the shoot. It’s a lot of hard work making a video, whether or not you think the band sucks. You obviously don’t know anything about music if you don’t know you need loud playback to play along properly for video purposes. Also, they DID turn it down, for assholes just like you.
oh, and the cops were there. you need permission for that shit, and they had it.
there is a reason the video was outside. because they wanted the video to be shot outside. not in a sound stage. and yeah, you guys are assholes. you should support local artists, whether or not you enjoy their style of music. you guys are a bunch of haters. If it makes you feel good to post about how much you hate Matt Mays you really need to get a hobby.
I think you’re missing the point here, allycat. I don’t think the poster cared if it was their favourite band in the whole entire world. Can’t blame them, I wouldn’t want to hear them at 3:50am when I have to get up at 8 in the morning for work.
support local artists? well, i support my favorite locals by seing them live, and buying their stuff. not by being woken up in the wee hours of the morning on a work day. the expectation of this kind of ‘support’ by the artist, only tells me (rightly or wrongly, is beyong my knowledge) that the artist doesnt care about his/her/their fans, if they are willing to force them to ‘support’ the band by doing something like that. if you want support, dont piss off your fans.
what ever happened to fakn ur video…i mean the artist ‘pretend’ to sing, drum etc while the playback rolls….could have at least cut down on the volume….n ps= why not check to see if the bugger had a permit, if not, he could get a fine, claim for damages…or go to his concert with a foghorn
I don’t even know what Matt Mays sounds like so I don’t think I am a ‘hater’ unless you mean it in the sense that I would ‘hate being awake at 0350hrs doing anything other than fucking’ sense of the word.

have you ever tried to ‘pretend’ to play the drums? good luck. And fog horn away, people who pay for shows are actually fans so I doubt you would get too many honks in. And the cops were all over the set, i assure you they had a permit. don’t be ridiculous. im done now.
