Dear Masseuse, if you take money via insurance, it is inappropriate to ask for a tip. Insurance money has made you a viable industry, as you’ve become ‘healthcare professionals’. Way to set your industry back 50 years. If you want a tip, give me an old fashioned or act like a professional. Do you think nurses or dental hygienists or physiotherapists ask for tips? —Sore Back

I think the confusion originates with the overlap of massage therapy within either a medical or spa capacity. Some people get massage therapy to address a medical condition, others for relaxation. While you wouldn’t tip a medical professional, tipping at spas is not unheard of. Members of any profession that accepts tips should never lose sight of the fact that tipping is voluntary, not mandatory.
I agree, if I go for therapy, I expect an educated therapist. Not someone with their hand out at the end.
I don’t tip my back surgeon, it’s the same thing.
No one should ever ask for a tip.
If I’m in for a massage for purely relaxation purposes then I’ll likely tip. If I’m in for medical purposes I may or may not tip, depending.
Question, and please excuse my ignorance, but, when the OB said, “…give me an old fashioned….” were they referring to the Happy Ending type massages? Just curious.
I think so Avast, but I don’t think it matters. I wouldn’t tip a prostitute either 😀
That’s how I read it, avast. OB wants them to whack off THEIR hickory stick.
Would shoplift a hoe, though, marty?
lmao @ hickory stick. Greasey.
As for tipping a prostitute, is that anything like cow tipping? You know, you see them all congregated on a street corner, you pull up in your car, jump out, sneak up and push one over than book it? Could be fun.
Next time OP, storm through the waiting room yelling “GET YOUR JESUS HANDS OFF OF ME. I PAID FOR A GODDAMNED GIRL!” Bonus points if you do it in Bubbles’ voice. Of course you’ll need to find a new place for the ole rub ‘n tug, but…you didn’t sound like you wanted to go back .
Find a dumb one who doesn’t require payment upfront. They’re easier to shoplift.
Just make sure you can outrun their pimp.
Please forgive me, PK, but, I can’t help thinking that you sound like you have done this before? lol
..I’m sure I have no idea what you’re talk’n bout Pk..:)
I managed to infiltrate her layer and gain knowledge of some secret plans…

it’s fool proof
Diabolical! (*In my very best Maxwell Smart voice*) “It’s so crazy, it just. might. work.”
i think the op meant this, i hope http://www.liquorsnob.com/pictures/hess_ol…
Asking for a tip is settin back their profession 20 years, but giving an “old fashioned” isn’t? Come on OP.
I agree with Salsasue, it’s always innappropriate to ask for a tip.
Um…..its been painful to read the OB’s post… you misunderstood her, asking for a tip was her way of asking if you wanted a happy ending.
No “happy ending” no tip. If you are looking for a tip for a massage, try not charging 70 dollars an hour. Really you want a tip at that rate? You gotta be kidding me… I don’t tip my doctor, dentist, or any other health professionals and if my benefits cover it, not going to tip you either.
when my elbows got fucked up a few years back at where i worked at, i had to go thru this shit. did me okay while there, but soon as i got home, the aches returned with a vengeance.
nerve and muscle damage is a bitch to have, and you never quite heal right. today, it still bothers me just before a rain is due.the more ache, the worse the weather will be.
sure sucks, it was from work^^j/k. my knee, shoulder and back can always tell when the barometer is dropping
when i first starting going to my RMT, i asked what is the protocol in regards to tipping. she said she wouldn’t accept it. she said tipping is optional typically in a spa setting, but in a clinical setting, it’s not the norm and usually not accepted.
Good to know, emilings!!
Massage therapy can be GREAT for your digestive tract. I feel amazing for at least a week after I have a massage and can pretty much eat whatever I want (within reason).
and if you try to take her food from her…
