If an academic institution states that they are going to have your marks up at a certain time, then those marks should be up. I as a student am required to have all my work submitted on time, if not I lose marks because in the real world, it is not professional to be late. Same goes, you guys have had 2 weeks, and now I want my marks, and actually I need them for applications. Hurry the hell up already.

Welcome to the real world. Unless there is some pressing reason for you needing them then you’re just whining. What for the real world when the contractor is late or the mechanic gets behind or your doctor is late. Get a grip. It’s not a big deal.
OP: I agree with you completely! Why doesn’t the street run in both directions in the academic world?
Bro Tim: The OP specifically stated the marks are needed for applications. Which could mean further education or employment. So if it’s an application to medical or legal schools, it could be a huge deal. Learn to read asswipe.
When I was at acadia it was actually written into the collective agreement how much time profs had to mark exams and get final marks into the registrar…thing *is* it’s up to the registrar’s office to post them, and sometimes THAT’S where the backlog is.
But I agree with profs who spend TOOOOOO much time marking shit needing to hurry the hell up. I’ve waited two months to get a paper back once. In a class of 40 students! ridiculous.
I also love it when profs have TAs mark papers….I can see tests with objective, multiple choice answers, but papers? I’m paying for the person with the degreeS to mark my shit, not some dip shit half way through their first undergrad degree. Ugh that bugs me.
I can’t really complain about when I was at acadia…
The subjects I took that I cared about always had definite right and wrong answers so my marks were always available on time…. (since I was in computers) we actually cracked how to get in and check them almost a week early….
anyhoo…. talk to your nerds, they may be able to help you out. Otherwise, fire off a mail to the prof.
ah yes, but there’s the sayings :
-do as i say, not as i do
-those who know… do, those who don’t …teach
but you are right, it’s unprofessional to be late
it’s also unprofessional to promise and not deliver
then again, we all know that the first thing is business is to make money, and academic institution is no exception.
chins up, there’s yet another surprise for you by the time your student loans pile up and the only jobs left to get are still the deadend jobs serving subs , doughnuts, and hamburgers.
Well oops. All he has to do on the appl is state marks not ready. And I’ve been told the cheque is in the mail, etc. And gasp, he could do something strange and ask for his marks as it is required for a job, student loan or whatever. Also if all fees and tuitions are not paid they will not release them.
zZz: you were there when you could type in that special address and get your marks! haha. The registrar’s office caught on myyyy third year? and put and end to it 🙁 You were probably there when the “network” actually had some good shit on it too. God I miss that place (well what it was back then and who was there…it’s just not the same now *sigh*).
My marks were generally up in a good amount of time when I was at acadia…and I had profs with 100+ students writing essay exams (with no TA help in marking). I can’t really complain.
yep, the secret URL.
they caught on my last year by extending authentication to the entire domain…. not just the gateway.
Kinda like how they’d block napster (roflz, napster) before 10pm on weekdays when everyone had dial up at home (roflz, dial up) because they cheaped out on the the bandwith.
Didn’t block porn though *eyeroll*
OP, you get that D yet?
DC++ is your friend.
Mmm I miss DC 🙁
