I sympathize (I live on a busy street, and I get a fair number of drunk people yelling outside my window at 4am), but you must have known there were bars around when you moved to Market Street. Noise and drunken stupidity are a fact of life downtown, and it’s the price you pay for the convenience of living there (that, and expensive rent). If it really bothers you that much, move to a quiet neighborhood, because I don’t think people are going to stop getting drunk downtown and making noise anytime soon.
I saw some apartment ads recently and thought – Wow, nice placem, nice rent.. Oooooh its near the bars.Really what did you expect?
Move to the burbs pal. They have lovely NOISE bylaws there that allows you to have absolute silence after 7 pm on Saturday nights and holidays.
I totally know what you mean “Sleepless in Halifax”. sure you expect some of it from downtown, but why should drunks yell at the top of their lungs to get their point across? It’s not the bars or necesarily all the drunks that are an issue! It’s the yelling as loud as humanly possible that gets annoying to be woken up to.
