I’m so tired of not having a place to meet new people. Yes, being a student, there are many great places; like the library, in class and in meal hall. But those options don’t apply to all of us. In particular, when you live off-campus, or are no longer a student, it can be incredibly hard to meet new people. I wish there was a place where people were open and forward about what their intentions were; like a coffee shop SPECIFICALLY tabbed as a place where you are open to having someone randomly come up to you and start a conversation. —Frustrated Potential Friend

Would you like to go for coffee sometime?
There are meet-up groups you can look into OB. Perhaps join an HSSC sports team? Look into Halifax Ultimate? Online dating? Hit up Seven Bays? Just a few suggestions. Good luck!
Buddy benches for adults should be a thing.
Get a dog. Met loads of people that way at dog parks and such. Mostly people I don’t have to make a strong personal connection with, too, which is ideal for a robot human like me.
Fusion Halifax has lots of good events you can go out and meet people at!
Tindr? Squirt? Grindr?
I would go to one of these Coffee Shops! I am always up for a good random conversation!.
Would you really want someone to randomly come up to you? someone u have never known or know anything about them, to approach u and be friends? I dunno buddy. Making friends takes time.
And yet when some one offers to have coffee with you in response to your bitch you don’t respond? I think I am beginning to see your problem with making friends
You should hang out here more often. I’ve made so many friends on this site 🙂
Why is it so hard to make friends? I want friends so bad!
Well, not you. You’re too fat. Or you. You’re too thin. Eat a cheeseburger! Oh my god, that one is, like, soooooooo creepy! Ugh, do you see what she is wearing? Um, she watches TV – TV is for mindless morons. And oh, my god, he listens to commercial radio. Why doesn’t he support independent artists? Too poor. Too rich. Too entitled. Not smart enough. Unattractive. Nerd. Loser. Why would I want to be friends with any of these people? Gah!
Making friends is soooooo haaaaarrrrrrd!
ETA: This is not really directed at the OB. I do not know her. Just a general observation of a lot of people I’ve known who complained about being friendless.
I’ve been told the Trident cafe on Sundays (Hollis St) is good for this kind of thing
Start a business! It’s a unique idea, one that could work in Halifax. Making friends as an adult is hard, and life can get lonely even when you have friends and lovers. In this day and age people are lacking in social connections, and a business that encourages that could be booming. Message me, I can help you write up a business plan.
‘Get’ a dog??
I assume you mean, welcome an animal into your home, pay for it’s food, vet bills, and pick up it’s shit and ‘doggy vomit’ for a ‘dog lifetime’…not to forget the rubbish strewn here and there!
I suggest you ‘borrow’ (nudge, nudge) a dog, preferably a small one, prior to your parkly strolls my good man….trust me….I speak from where I know.
Best of luck, chappy!!
Volunteer. Just because it feels so good.
Slow down Cowboy!!!
You’re movin’ way too fast!
