Magnetic rage
Look, everyone has the right to express their own political beliefs, be they liberal or conservative, communist or socialist, etc. But if I see one more of those fucking “Support Our Troops” magnets I am going to pull my hair out. Those magnets were orig

You talk the talk, but do you walk the walk? You say that the parents should be given a beating. Are you the one who is going to instigate it? Wouldn’t that make you a hypocrite?
To “Health Nut” and every other alias you use…we get the point “put up or shut up.” How many times do you need to post the same thing? It’s time for a new thought…
Bitches are “talk the talk”- that’s what it is here for. “Health Nut” missed the whole point of this bitch. Keyword for Health Nut is SHOULD, a suggestion as to what should be done. And walk the walk? Ragboy is right, it is time for new thoughts.Unfortunately they won’t be coming from Health Nut.
I agree, I think those magnets are really creepy. Every time I see one on someones fridge It weirds me out and I have to leave. I feel like these people are going to drag their Bush Blow Up Doll out of their closet and start humping it in front of me or something.
I agree. They make me puke.Whet do the actually mean anyway? A safe return? Successful operation? Is it political support they are suposed to be after? And of course, because of all these undefined assumptions behind them, to criticise makes you somehow “unpatriotic”. Bullsh*t.Get rid of them people until you can tell me what they mean.
it’s pacist’s like you that the Taliban are relying on….idiots like you get our troops killed….they know the more troops they kill, the more outcry there will be….essentially you are playing into their hands
blind patriotism, theyve been fooled, support our troops who r attempting 2 control afghanistan so dick cheney can build a oil pipeline through the countryiraq is about control of resources, geopolitical positioning, euros and rakiteering, plain & simplesupport our pawns by doing nothing but buying a fucking slogan & regurgitaing the lies & propagandafucking sheep
Every time a Cdn. coalition soldier gets killed in Afghanistan I find one more reason to get the hell out of there. What’s the count now? 40? That’s 40 more reasons to ditch this incompetent Bush-loving fuckwad that’s in Ottawa. Maybe if enough of their pretty coloured ribbons on their cars got keyed, they’d rethink wearing their politics on their sleeves (so to speak).
I have one on the back of my car actually. It’s pretty simple for those of us who have loved ones and friends over there and we don’t know if they will come back alive or not so fuck off because if you could relate this article and some comments would never have been.
You know what, i’m just sick of the magnets! The first time I saw them was in the States and I thought they were stupid there..but ya know, the’re even STUPIDER here! Once again the Canadians have to do what the Americans do. So sad.
HAHAHA! “it’s pacifists like you that the Taliban are relying on.” That’s f*cking rich.Yeah, the remaining Taliban sitting around in caves in Afghanistan are surely relying on people criticizing stupid car magnets in NS, Canada to bring them their “great victory”. Get real and get your head out your a*s.As for the “SUPPORT OUR TROOPS” guy, is that what these annoying magnets mean then? Cause, if you’re hoping for their safety and/or return then why don’t they say that? You know as well as I do that the SOT slogan is a loaded term so let’s stop being facetious and cut the BS shall we?
Dear magnethater,It’s like in Vietnam. The Vietnamese knew that if they could get enough of the antiwar protestors on their side that eventually the US would be forced to pull out. The Vietnamese did this by killing American troops in huge numbers. If you don’t like the fact that our troops are fighting in Afghanistan, why not just get the fuck out of Canada?
Oh yeah, let’s get rid of those stupid jesusfish magnets while we’re at it.
Dear troop “supporter”,You sound like a broken American record with your ill thought out one liners about “getting out of Canada”. I mean are you flippin serious or have you just been reading too much PNAC literature while wrapped naked in the flag? Yeah man, anyone who becomes a declared enemy of the US/Canada for whatever reason (and forgetting the fact that the “bad guys” live without effective PR departments for a moment) is somehow supported by anyone who doesn’t agree with the war or in this case, tacky car decorations. Straw man garbage. “If you don’t support the war then you don’t support/hate the nation” right? Do you even know what that sort of crap reasoning is primarily associated with?Fascist Nazi Germany. Think about that the next time you defend blind allegiance.Oh and yeah, why again do the dumb magnets not say “come back alive” at least if that’s what they are suposidly intended to mean?
Huh? It,s like Vietnam? Oh riiiight, I remember those Support our Troops in Vietnam magnets on the back of Ford Ramblers. Back to the present…if they didn,t want to be part of a war, what the hell did they enlist for in the first place…oh riiiight “manouvers” in the Caribbean.support THIS
I think instead of “support our troops” the magnets should read “bring my baby home”. Thats how I would feel If my son was over there. In fact If my son was old enough I wouldn’t allow him to go over there. He wouldn’t be allowed in the Military. Not with Harper and Bush running things.
I responded to this ‘bitch’as “YES< SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" and am appalled to feel that some of you are so insensitive to our brothers, sisters, fathers, uncles, cousins, friends, husbands, etc that are forced by our gov't to be someplace where they most likely do not want to be.Nevertheless, I do 'own' and realize that this is what they signed up for, literally and figuratively speaking but this doesn't lessen the blow of the fact that our countrymen and woman are being killed in place where I believe they/we should not be, I agree with what you people are saying. To the person who wrote on Vietnam, I have no idea what you are referring to.I am a female who had a father who served out country, a husband, a son who is joining the infantry and this is why I speak my piece. I do not believe in war and I have people to be concerned about.I have said all that I need and want to say and for the ignorant people, I cannot make you understand the worry.
for such a serious topic i have to say there r some really witty people out there- Taliban worrying about us here in NS – really made me laugh.anyway- i think it’s just away for people to feel like they are not helpless knowing that there are people over there fighting for what we hope is a better way of life for those people.now i am not saying it is right or wrong to be fighting this war – but i think people should be able to take comfort where they can
I’ve attached a link (hope it’s okay)http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Printable.asp?ID=5956
a quote from the article-“The antiwar movement only served to inspire the communists to go on fighting and killing Americans and the South Vietnamese. The visits to North Vietnam by actress and antiwar activist “Hanoi Jane” Fonda, Ramsey Clark and others only served to encourage the communists to continue to imprison, beat and starve our prisoners of war.” Now do you understand????
If you dont believe in the war why are you letting them join?
Right back at ya. So if the war is making us less safe then tell me why again we should support these actions…”stark assessment of terrorism trends by American intelligence agencies has found that the American invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks”-From the NY Times (check it out)
I am ex-army and find the magnets a little annoying ONLY because they are out there on every damn topic these days. Ribbons for this, flags for that, it’s just too much. Everywhere you look they are there, sending out whatever message that person chooses to stand behind. We all have the right to put them on our vehicles (I don’t), I have no problem with people doing it as a sort of freedom of opinion/speech, just that they seem to have lost their meaning to me for whichever cause they represent. I’m hoping this is what the original poster was getting at also. I’m avoiding the whole war/anti-war chat b/c I’d be here all day.
Those damn things are just as annoying as the “baby on board” window suction cup things. Like I’m supposed to be more careful around that vehicle. Maybe those morons driving those vehicles should learn how to drive better by doing things such as turning your headlights on and checking your blind spots before switching lanes!!!And people, get a grip. It’s only 40 dead. The gov went over to fight the Taliban and to help Afghanistan. Would you be calling for heads if the country actually had to go to war and lost thousands? Look at WW1 and WW2. There were days when we’d lose thousands of troops because it was war. People then understood that if you joined the army or were sent overseas, then expect deaths.
I think the bracelets, magnets and ribbons are actually symbolizing how many people youve slept with
i support everybody’s right to believe what they believe.now imagine what you must believe to go to another country and possibly kill another human being. Aside from the freaks of cource, i would think you would have to believe you are doing good in the name of democracy and giving others the possiblity of a better life.i do not beleive you have to kill someone to make a point or help, however i can support other’s rights to believe what they have to do do this job.that is what i think it means to SUPPORT THE TROOPS!
For those who would blindly follow the “support our troops” slogan, please consider where this allegiance leads us. If Canada pored all of its considerable wealth into defeating the enemy in Afghanistan and we as citizens believed fully in the cause, knowing it would take years pehaps decades to prevail, and at the cost of thousands of soldiers lives and health. Do we as Canadians want to travel the road the USSR took in 1979 to 1989? They lost 15,000 troops and killed over a million people in Afghanistan. Does anyone wonder if there were Russians with support the troops magnets on their cars?If you wish to support the troops, learn, read, ask questions and discuss this important issue. Do not be swayed by slogans >cut and run stay the course support the troops war on terror< let wisdom be your guide. For those who are true believers or wisdom leads them to support the troops, get in good shape and join the army or the reserves, there is a person in uniform in Afghanistan that wants to come home and he needs your support!
I thought the Liberals signed us up for this war?
This is NOT what the Liberals or the troops signed up for. They signed up for a peacekeeping role in Afghanistan. Harper turned it into something more sinister. They are aggressively hunting down & killing people in Afghanistan. I can’t support this. It’s a neverending drain – and if the USSR army couldn’t do it, our wee little army sure as hell won’t be able to do.
As a soldier in the Canadian Forces, I am appalled by by the lack of support, due to the lack of understanding. I would like to think that I speak for many other soldiers when I say we are not looking for anyone to support the mission, but support the sacrifices ae as soldier and our familes are making for this mission. When I see the “little things” that people are doing i.e. yellow ribbon magnets, red shirts on Fridays, or even a thank you from someone on the street, I know that regardless of your political views you care for the troops.
frontline mag is a right-wing fucking jokeunfortunatly what many believe -‘that he we are helping others (afghanis)’ is a lie, the truth is that our role in afghanistan is to help secure american financial interests and to free up american troops to go to iraq since america is having trouble recruiting people to fight their ‘war of terrorism’, what the US is doing is terrorism folks, invading countries and oppressing innocent men, women and children is terrorism, look it up, ( & financing Israel to do the same, 35+ years of illegal military occupation of palestine and invading lebanon repeatedly). these r war crimes, arguably genocide in iraq, many UN people resigned over thisbut no, theyre fighting ‘the insurgents’, thats a nice spin word for people fighting an invasion to regain control of their land that was invaded on false pretenses, a few questions where are the WMD’S?, where’s bin laden?, why iran next in their war planbook?, look at a map and there’s your answer, THE USA WANTS TO CONTROL THE PERSIAN GULF TO ENSURE THE OIL FLOW OUT, we r merely pawns in PNAC’s plans of global domination, think im crazy, do some research & think again
What a lefty comment, what do you think the liberals would have done different, told the troops to stand there and get shot? It’s a war. I don’t like it either, but don’t tell me the liberals would have kept it stickly to peace keeping, get real.
To the soldier who posted.Look, I don’t wish you any harm at all. In fact, quite the opposite and that’s probably true for anyone. But screw your head on straight because WTF should anyone be thanking you on the street for?!? I’ll thank the guy who rescues my dog from a river, helps me start my car, buys me a coffee and especially the soldier that repulses an invasion of this country but since you’ve done none of that, I owe you nothing more than I owe anyone else.I understand that the military likes to tell itself it’s “fighting the good fight” no matter what but get down off your high horse because the operation in Afghanistan gives no one a reasonable reason to thank some random soldier for jack.
Anyone who believes the liberals and conservatives (and even the NDP these days) would do much differently on the overall political/economic front is an idiot. Outside of a few domestic social policy differences both parties are very much the same and are indicative of a general slide to the right in Canadian politics that has been happening for years now. Sure the fanitical Christians like the Cons more and the urban lefties prefer the Libs but seriously…..they are as fooled as most people. Tell me where the big policy gaps are that define these parties. Let’s focus on the issue at hand and stop playing parties like the Americans do so much because it’s pointless.
During the Vietnam war (?), the most prevalent symbols were PEACE signs. Do I support our troops? You bet I do. I support that they should get their asses out of there yesturday.
war is a racket, soldiers canon foderiraq 4 sale dot orgdick cheney, halliburton
http://www.forces.gc.ca/site/Community/Messageboard/index_e.aspHey magnethater, I invite you to post some of your views to the link above about magnets and troop support to the folks breathing in shit dusty air, and dodging bicycle and car bombs on a daily basis. I am sure they will get that same warm and fuzzy feeling , much like I did from your ramblings here.
*sign* Once again soldier guy, you miss the point. I don’t feel any animosity toward people serving in the forces nor do I wish them harm OK? Got it? But because they signed up for a job that brought them to places with car bombs and dusty air certainly doesn’t make them “heros” or anyone to be thanked for squat. You obviously believe that people should be thanking some soldier for shooting person X in country X simply because the government tells you that it’s a great and glorious mission and I doubt very much you’ll ever crack open your mind to see otherwise.Thankfully, the official military line doesn’t matter much to many people besides those who refuse to think. If you want a big hug and a thank you from anyone then give us a reason at least.
whats with those calendars they want to put out. Why dont you put out one of your cats I think it would be a helluva more interestan
Oh come one soldier guy. You really want me to post on that site and upset a bunch of army wives? Let me know and I will if you think it would be constructive. Cats? What?
magnethater is a true testiment of just how poor our education has become if you can not recognize the sacrifice our Army/Navy and what not are making to insure that we show we are a solid country. we don’t all have to believe in the argument but how can you not feel a measure of gratitude to a person who is willing to go to another place -risk torture/death and moral insanity. these people are doing this because they support their country and it would be nice if the people in the country could support them, i an NOT saying anything about changing your beliefs but support the individuals who are making this sacrfice!
I am also a Soldier in the Canadian Army and I do not want you to think by having the ribbons is in any way making a political statement. The ribbons are not to support the mission or to validate our governments decision to put us there in the first place. It is first and foremost for the soldiers and their families to recognize their sacrifices and efforts no matter what region of the world they are in.It is unfortunate to see what is being shown by the media regarding the Canadian Forces and its mission in Afghanistan. Our involvement, wasn’t initally an offensive shoot em up type mission. In fact it was about bringing stability and reconstruction efforts to Afghanistan.also having served one tour in Afghanistan, it was nice knowing that the PEOPLE back home were thinking of us. It made it just a little easier to be away from home
just for a little background info about the magnets and other support the troops stuff check out the following web sitehttp://www.canex.ca/en/newscentre/support/2006_09_21_e.asp
Gratitude? Why? Look “open your eyes”, like I said, any soldier that is defending our nation deserves respect, a thank you, etc but do a little reading yourself and you might come to a different understanding of the role of everyday citizens in this case.”these people are doing this because they support their country”…so some probably believe that but so f*cking what? Most military people join for other reasons than “defending the homeland”, they have no say in where they go or what they do and you expect me to have gratitude simply for these guys doing their job? You might as well expect me to walk into Revenue Canada and start handing out roses to all the tireless public servants helping to make our lives better!Gad, get real will you. I personally hope the soldiers get the heck out of there ASAP and without more deaths but I am not going to simply march down the gangplank of mindless patriotism and start thanking anyone for their involvement in a mission that has no positive bearing on any of our lives. What if we sent troops into central america to prop up Canadian corporate interests? How about if we participated in an agressive American invasion of say…Burma? Do we all line up to thank the troops then regardless? Are you that indoctrinated?Get educated yourself pal because you seem to just be spouting off propaganda lines devoid of real thinking.
so we go to country ‘x’ ‘to insure that we show we are a solid country’ & ‘to defend our country’sounds like the same old story, im beginning 2 think its all a big lie, surprise…surprise.. when was the last time we were attacked btw?
ps it is more likely that we attacked in an american false flag operation than by afghani’s, unless of course our presence in their country continues
Agreed. These military operations are not about defence. They are about committing resources and political weight to mostly American actions. If we were actually acting to defend this country we would be reorganizing the armed forces into a sleeker, less bulky force designed to wage an “occupied” war against the US or perhaps Russia but that’s pretty unlikely. Why does anyone think we’re investing in massive jets to carry troops around? To get them to areas where we, as little brother to the US/UK have to go. Why no investments in Canadian based defence technology either? Answer: The US wants us to keep buying from them/allies and not to have the capacity to develop anything ourselves. Seriously….what sort of freakin military ambitions cana country with more lakes than people have anyway!?!It’s all very clear if you look at it logically. Our soldier are just pawns in a global political power game.
I have served in the CF(the navy to be more persice) for 6 years since i have been in i have done a 6 month deploment to the middle east to board suspected vesseles carrying wepons and suplies ment for terrorism as well as terrorist so no we are not fighting in our own countrey but for every load of weapons and every arrest we make it is one less way for the terroist to attack canada and our allies and as well as my counterparts in the army not only are they doing what i do they are also shuting down terrorist camps that train hundreds even thousands of terroist so to you who say we are not protecting our country think about that for a minute… and to those who say we are fighting a american war we have lost many canadians in terroist attacks around the world including the wtc so yes this is an american war and a canadian one and a british one and a german one etc….
dear sailor guy, do u know the history of the middle east ‘conflict’, do u know who gave saddam weapons 2 go 2 war with iran?, do u know what america’s greatest export is?, u think u r doing a good job but consider who u r working 4, go to http://www.informationclearinghouse.infoand search ‘terrorist state chomsky’ if u r allowed access 2 such a site
