Who…who…or what designed this piece of crap? Does anyone know? Who was the genius who decided to make cyclists go down a hill and play cat-and-mouse with fast-moving cars on a blind corner, with zero momentum, to go back up the hill when exiting the ramp? Who was the person who, instead of listening to complaints about the ramp and making upper-level crosswalk exits (there’s a bloody light on the left side already for f#ck’s sake), built a higher fence to keep cyclists from safely exiting the bridge? This is one of the worst examples of backwards thinking I have ever experienced in my life. This piece of sh$t ramp has got to go! It is a danger, a frustration, an annoyance, and an engineering and city planning embarrassment. Halifax bureaucracy: stop treating cyclists like 2nd-class citizens, grow the f#ck up, and fire idiots instead of giving them bonuses and hiring their buddies and cousins. Morons. Hire intelligent people and encourage intelligent people to stay here by hiring them instead of your mentally-stalled family members! —Tired of Coming Home to Stupidity

  1. When I come over the bridge I just stop at the top of the ramp and pick my bike up over the railing and continue on up the hill

    Wow… tuff

Trying thinking outside the box and the universe won’t confound you so often

    fool

  2. Not my bitch, but also my problem- interesting solution, Fool. I really don’t think I’m tall enough (or confident enough handling my bike) to hoist it up over that fence. 🙁

  3. Who…who…or what designed this piece of crap? With input from the Halifax Cycling Coalition, car drivers!

They (HBC, HRM, HRPD, HCC, assorted asshole city administrators, etc) are aware of the problem but don’t “have” a solution…

I suggest we (cyclists) form a blockade at the end of the bike path on the Halifax side, during the morning rush hour.

We will hold up traffic as we SAFELY cross the road so that we can SAFELY bike back up North Street. We would continue to do this for days on end until they find (invest in) a solution.

What can they do? Officer, we’re simply crossing the street…!

  4. It wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t the ONLY cycling exit off the bridge.. even if there were options. There aren’t options. There is a giant metal fence herding you downhill toward the interchange and that’s all she wrote. Not even a thought to those of us that would rather go north… So you have to go down, then back up, life in your hands like some cold war underground-newspaperboy. It’s asinine.
