I work in the retail sector and have discovered that I have to work more than 48 hrs per week before I am entitled to be paid overtime at time and a half, while the rest of Canada ranges between 40 and 44. I get paid $13.00 per hr, so I work as many hours as I can, only to discover this corporate perk supported by the dept of labor and our government. Nova Scotia is one of the most expensive provinces in Canada to live, and I depend on every dollar I make.
So I ask you this; How many blows to the little guy are you going to deal before we get fed up and leave this province, where I grew up, as so many others have before me.
I understand the need to entice big businesses to set up shop in Nova Scotia, as they help drive our economy, but do you have to do it at the expense of your blue collar worker? As it is us who are the driving force of our economy. —Hate The Way We’re Paid

Yep and you do not realize that will make huge difference if you draw EI and when you retire you will receive less pension also because you made less, you get less CPP. while welfare goes up due to inflation your pay raise must be justified and approved, everyone is always against my posts/ideas, yet have no suggestions to counter me, see unless you are willing to give idiots something free they hate you. My grandfather worked his whole life and never became rich, but that was by choice not design, yet you must work more than he did for half the pay. Ever think maybe he was over paid?
My best advice for you is move. It doesnt solve the problem, but it will for you.

Obvious with this short interaction in past 24 hrs, you ppl are all kids. Adults would have a better understanding after 15+ yrs of typing in chats, every extra key stroke is more pain eventually, its less with touch screens now but still not perfect. Welcome to the hell which is the workforce, pal. Try standing on your feet all day for minimum wage (10$/hour). And they wonder why people sponge off the system. My suggestion is to stop taking out huge mortgages and buying new SUV’s and live within your means. I’m quite happy in my crappy 1 bedroom apartment dung-heap, with zero stress and 100% sanity.
