I’m so sick of hearing people whine about the lack of parking downtown. There are paylots everywhere downtown, and people act like they don’t know how to use them.
When people in Halifax say theres no parking downtown, what they are really saying is: “I can’t park for free, directly outside the door of the place I’m going, for as long as I want” Well guess what? Space in ANY downtown core is at a premium, so if you’re going to use it up, you have to pay, even if its only an hour.
Cant afford to park? Guess what? YOU CANT AFFORD A CAR DUMBASS! —Don’t Own a Car or a License Cause I Don’t Need Em

Excellent OB! And it’s true, but there is free parking downtown…..only most people who too dumb fuck stupid to realize where it is, or how to find it. Plus paying a few bucks an hour for parking isn’t going to kill a person.
Took the words outta my mouth OP ;D. I don’t think I have ever seen a parking lot that was full downtown, unless it was a free one like at Stupid Store or something.
that’s one reason why some folks, like the big box stores, too bad. paying for parking while you’re working, can get expensive. that’s why workers at the hospital, get there at crow pee. they get the parking around citadel, and i must say, they have excellent parallel parking skills
Actually OB, I’ve got a 3/4 ton extended cab pick up truck, full size box c/w a rack for carrying I-beams…so I DON”T FIT IN THE FUCKING PARKADES !
Once you could get in the upper part of Scotia Square parkade…& although that area (where the gas station used to be) still has high enough ceiling space, you can’t get through the gates ! Trying to get a 25ft+* long truck into the spaces in many parking lots is getting pretty cramped as well.
* – When I have aluminum decks &/or cross braces, in the back of my truck the tail gate is down & they stick out past the tail gate about a foot or so. Makes the truck about 26/27 feet long.
I was downtown on Monday dropping gear at a site & I was there early, my truck took up the entire space between meters & I was about 3 feet into the space behind me, so most cars even small ones wouldn’t fit.
I’m sure the ratio of normal sized cars to vehicles like your shit mobile, more-on is MUCH in favour of the normal-sized cars.
Down here in Hooterville (yep, L’il Arse Corner has been renamed in honour of the late Irene Ryan aka Granny Clampett who had yonks of relatives here – we wanted to get Jethro up here but someone stole his oxygen tank), we have parking meters with rabid badgers that will attack you unless you fork over a loonie and a half-rotten samosa.
Doesn’t change the FACT Kitty, that there are some of us who have trouble trying to park in downtown Halisux….& is why we go there only when absolutely necessary.
