Some people have nothing better to do then complain!!! My cat has been missing since Aug 5, and I’m heart is broken that I have not found her yet. I have spent many hours searching and alot of time and money putting up very good posters in my area!! Apparently someone in my area,in Clayton Park West didnt like them, and phoned to complain about the posters to the councilor of our district. Someone from their office called me and asked how long she had been gone, and I should not keep the posters up much longer, cause they dont want the area to look like “downtown”. I was very offended by this call, and that someone actually complained!!! That person really has to much time on there hands!! Then when I returned home from work that night, All my posters had been removed!! I was pissed and disgusted!! Doesnt HRM have anything better to do then worry about a person desperantly looking for her lost cat!!! Plus it was the department for animal control that told me to put up posters all around the area!! Jerks!!! Let just say my posters will go back up and I defintely wont be voting for my town councilor!!!!

If you loved your pet you wouldn’t have let it out to roam. Power poles are privately owned and not a place for people to advertise ANYTHING. Finally a councilor that actually did something.

If my cat somehow had gotten out I would flood every neighborhood, windshield, pole, public window with fliers…if removed then I’d repost.

Just get a new cat, there are tonnes of them at shelters that need a home. They all act and smell the same.
OP: While I love my cat and would be pretty upset if he got out, it is YOUR FAULT, no one elses. If you’re going to poster the poles, fine by me, but did you ever have any intention of going around and taking them all down after you found your cat? Or are you going to do like EVERY other poster plasterer and leave them up until they fall apart? They are litter, plain and simple.
Skye: Bro Tim is right, they are private property and are not meant for any sort of advertising, be it for a bar or a lost pet. Regardless of whether or not you like his opinion on the matter, he is 100% correct. And as far as the “real issues” are concerned, if you think that your councilor should bow to your illegal usage of telephone poles as forms of advertising, as opposed to the legal rights of his constituents, then you’re a fool.

Are you the person who has an ad on Kijiji in the top section? I feel sorry for you – I would be heartbroken if my cat got out.
But, it is your responsibility.
If you are said poster on Kijiji, you have picture of your cat sitting on your balcony. That’s enough incentive for a cat to go roam.
I will keep my eye out, but posters on public property are against the rules.

If anything take this as a lesson in not letting kitties outside. I had outdoor kitties in the past (in the country) and I learned my lesson that hard way. Now I don’t care how much the little fuckers whine (mine don’t, but I’ve have cats who do) — they ain’t goin’ out.

That’s right the cat or any other domestic animal has the same forcefield you have Tech when riding your bike. It protects it from attacks from other animals, both domestic and wild, protects it from vehicles when it darts out of nowhere into the roadway, and of course protects it from people that want it for themselves.

No one cares about your stupid cat. Pets sometimes run away and die. It happens. If your world comes crashing down because your cat ran away, maybe you shouldn’t have a cat.

WOW, I’m on the side of the cat lovers. I hope you find your cat. Put the posters back up and keep on looking for your cat. I had the same thing happen and it took 6 months but my cat came back to me. She had been cat napped (because she’s BEAUTIFUL) and she escaped again and came home. Never give up hope and screw all the heartless pricks who say otherwise. Sociopaths show indifference to life in all it’s forms and indifference towards life in any form is considered anti social behaviour.
As much as I hate to see people lose cats, what the caller probably thought was that you were lazy and didn’t want to bother taking them down ever. We have many people in this city like that who have ruined your situation. If you’re going to put them back up, don’t use staples (NSP hates those when they’re climbing the poles) and write an “update” of sorts every week or so to show you actually intend to take them down.
I am the one who has the ad on Kijiji, and my cat is surpervised when on my deck, it was a total accident she got off, she slipped off and I couldnt catch her in time, and she got scared and ran!!! I don’t let my cats roam, she has never even touch ground before!!! So I do know she is my responsibility, and thats why I’m trying to find her!! also once she is found of course the posters will be removed!!! Cats are not a disposible pet, and I’m not just gonna get another one because she hasnt been found yet, I will keep my posters up till she is!! You do not need a license to put posters up, if it was so illegal, why did a HRM division for lost pets advise me to put posters up in the first place!!!!!
Did HRM say you could put posters on power poles or did they say you could put posters up. Two different things.
HRM told me to put posters up in my area, in high traffic areas,amoung other things that I should do as well!!!they did not specify on what I should or should not put them on!!
Oh and the person that wrote a “bitch” about 2 weeks ago about cat posters, it wasnt about my posters, it was about someone elses!!!!, I replaced mine that the hurricane took down, and made sure that my new ones were very secure, and I check them, but random ones that idiots feel is cool to just tear down, I try to replace as well!! I just want to find my cat thats all!!

I should start putting up posters in downtown Halifax of panhandlers and the counciller’s phone to call and complain about the posters and the panhandlers. Leave the kitties alone, and do something about the damn homeless bums!
