Good graffiti artists don’t paint on your homes, cars, churches, etc. Yes, there are lots of little shits tagging everything without any thought, but don’t just assume anyone that does graffiti supports that.

I met this graffiti guy down at the parking lot by the waterfront they nixed. His name is Scott Tobin. I was there photographing the wall, doing my abstract thing. He asked me about what I was doing, he listened to my art talk, I asked him, I listened while he gave me a great run down on the different guys who painted there. It’s kind of crappy they filled in the lot. Hopefully the guys and gals have another sanctioned place to paint.
As far as I know, the guys that painted there didn’t tag. Whether their talent meant they didn’t have to tag(because they could actually do art),or what, I never saw their sigs anywhere around town.
At SprGar and SPark, near where I live some dooshes tagged the Rogers phone building wall with a 6 foot tall tag, and further up the street. I have a very wide acceptance threshold for what constitutes Art, but these guys are no talent assholes that have no concept of respect for others’ property.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t there a North End Anarchist Graffiti Doosh on here who actually tried to say the guys in the N End who tag are on purpose lowering property values so they can afford to live there?

Correct on all counts Sir Wheels. I got no problem with sanctioned public decoration. And in truth, some of it can be pretty damned good. But a meaningless black squiggle or sub-literate “social protest” slogan wherever it is is just bullshit criminality. Painey’s shop has been defaced with paint and my barber has had his window smashed twice. I see no difference between these two things – small business owners with enough headaches and responsibilities targeted by bored vermin.
Still, as Pope Julius told Michelangelo “It’s nice I’ll grant you, but when I asked you to paint the Sistine Chapel I was kind of leaning toward duck egg blue”
