Listen up women, you’re not living in Pleasantville or the 1930s down in South End Halifax. You NEED to make sure you lock your doors and windows before you go to bed.

This morning police reported yet another woman waking up on Saturday to find a man in her bedroom touching her, and then running out. This is disturbing.

For your own safety, lock up like Fort Knox. PS – keep a baseball bat next to your bed….maybe someone will eventually crack this sick perp. —Lock’n’Stop

  1. People are retards. I locked my doors when I used to live in Hammonds Plains with my parents, and sure as hell always lock my door in south end Halifax. I hope he sneaks into a house where someone has a pistol, although people with guns are smart enough to lock their doors in the first place.

  2. I’m personally surprised that no one’s ever actually tried to kick the shit out of this guy, or that the guy keeps on running away so quickly. I’d imagine most woman are a bit dazed when they first wake up, realizing some man is touching them. But come on.

I live in the south end, so this is all creepy. Haha.

  3. no, it weren’t me, i hate walking and i don”t like creeping in the dark. although i have been know to nibble a few necks in the shadows every so often.

  4. I had a dream this morning that I thought my husband came back into the bed, then I realized that it was a stranger with a tatoo on his right shoulder. He made me drink some kind of drugs out of a syringe he had, then I woke up. It felt very real. I felt so strange to see this thread.

  5. Naturally, it’s the women’s fault they had their homes invaded by someone. Of course any woman who leaves a window unlocked by accident, by purpose, should expect someone to come in and watch her sleep. I bet the woman did it on purpose in hopes that the guy would find her house. She was probably asking for it.

  6. Pavillion, don’t be so obtuse. No one is blaming the victim, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt if people were a bit more careful about keeping their windows and doors locked.

  7. Fuck, I used to lock the door to my apartment in 1974 when Halifax was considered a lot safer – what are these stupid twats thinking?

  8. It was a change for me to move to Halifax and to remember to lock my house and car all the time. In small town hickville I never thought about it. But I’ve learned quickly with this kind of news!

  9. Most university students in this neighbourhood live with roommates, so sometimes even if you go to bed thinking the door is locked, a roommate may come home and forget to lock up. And a lot of these older homes get sooo stuffy in the summer that keeping a window (fully) closed is not an option.

As someone whose house the sleepwatcher has tried to enter on at least a few occasions, I started putting a wedge in my bedroom door at night so it can’t be opened from the outside…this way, even if my roommates forget to lock up after I’ve gone to bed, it’s a lot more difficult for someone to get into my room (and if someone was trying that hard, I would probably wake up). And after some scares with the sleepwatcher last summer, my landlord set up the windows so they only open a few inches.

  10. I’m not surprised no-one has actually caught this dude…
If you’re just waking up, he’s got the jump on bolting and are you really going to chase him out of your house/apartment in your jammies/skivvies?
Pretty sure he gets a lay of the land when he enters as well so he knows how to evacuate in a ‘timely’ manner.
I’m just surprised he isn’t stealing anything.

That’s going to help when he’s caught…. since he’ll be going for a mental eval for sure.

  11. I looked a cute little apartment in the South end when I was looking for a place, and it turned out to be on the ground floor so I didn’t bother to apply for the sake of the sleepwatcher guy!

  12. Id chase him, and then sexually assault this described “young muscular male”

    That outta teach him!

  13. I still lock my doors to the car when I head out of town to the boonies…
just get into the force of habit.

  14. This night stalker better hope I don’t forget to lock my door or he’ll be leaving my room with some identifying scars on his face.
