Oh come on now, before we feel too sorry for our trailer park heroine. How “smart, intellectual and well travelled” can this woman really be? Enough to know that the climate for teaching positions in this province is extremely competative? She had herself a job, said inapropriate things in a local paper and was removed of her responsibilities. Teachers looking for jobs are a dime a dozen…..GREAT teacher are not. She may or may not be a great teacher, but I am positive she has learned a great lesson here – in professionalism. I hope he teacher who is now in her spot is enjoying their hard earned opportunity.

Happy to be working in education.

  1. If you’re not a fan of the show, there’s no way you could be expected to know this, but when TPB cast members give interviews, they do so in character. This actor/teacher was not being an unprofessional teacher. She was being a professional actor. Should she have to choose between her two professions? In the parochial, small minded education system, apparently so.

  2. I totally get that she might be in character, and I DO raise an eyebrow as to WHY she was let go. BUT like it or not teachers are roll models and unfortunately the only adult guidance a kid might get that makes a difference. I do feel that for the job she might need to distance herself from the character on TPB, as much as I enjoy the show. Personally I think the discussion should have gone as far as an Adult conversation about what was expected of her as a professional teacher. but then noone really knows exactly what really went on.

  3. “Professionalism” alright, like on the part of the private school owners/administration. Too bad an “out of school” settlement will no doubt come of this and none of you know-it-alls will know the real deal….
