If you “need an hour to fuck around” before you can get started on your actual studying, please do everyone else around you a favour and either do the “fucking around” at home or if you must do it here, at least don’t have loud conversations with your friends at a table across the room about your favourite types of condoms and your killer heartburn… Cheers! —Student trying to Study

  1. Libraries have evolved and are more of a community centre nowadays. Those days of the quiet library are probably numbered I’m afraid.

  2. I don’t know where you go, but there are tons of little places to study in SMU and Dal that aren’t in the library at the respective school. If you do need the library and its resources there is almost always quiet tables in the stacks or off to the side. If you’re at the common area expect some noise, but if things get out of control, you can always tell them to be quiet and it usually works (even those shitty high school kids that come in near the end of January).

  3. Fondest memory for me of any library was while in Uni and getting head from a classmate in the journal section. Damn, that was awesome!
