Montreal will now be dumping over 2 billion litres of human waste into the St laurence.

It should be noted that the previous Federal Government was blocking this dumping of raw sewage and that the new “Hot” Climate Change Environment Minister Catherine McKenna has given the go ahead with the condition that she is able to spin it with wonderful words like risk mitigating measures which, when looked up in the dictionary of political speak really means “Oh well, we are in power now. It’s not like we meant it.” —fishing is the shits

  1. What is YOUR solution to repairing MontrĂ©al’s aging sewere infrastructure? The effluent needs to go somewhere while they fix it… fuck but some people are dense!

  2. Well… the last federal government may have said it was a bad idea but they were not about to intervene since it was the province’s decision so that’s a moot point. Halifax did this like five or six years ago (mayor swam in the harbour and everything) and our harbour is just as polluted as ever!
Jesus has a point, either they do this now or the sewage system’s gonna degrade and break and do it on its own anyway so might as well just get it outa the way now eh?

  3. If it hadn’t been so close to the election the conservatives wouldn’t have delayed it at all. The main question to ask is “How are we making sure we don’t have to do this again?”, which I didn’t hear from either government. Perhaps they have it figured out though.

  4. And just how does this affect you, FITS? Methinks you’re angry because the Liberals won. Get over it and your righteous indignation. Unless you’re in the path of that load of poo, your argument is weak as a day old barge mouse.

  5. So here you have both The Liberals and Quebec criticizing the building of pipelines to transport oil from Alberta over what are claimed to be environmental concerns , but yet both of their environment records horrible – time to take a long hard look in the mirror.

This dumping should not be allowed to take place until the annual migration of birds have completed.

Some of the analysts are pointing out that a scheduled “make before break” strategy has worked successfully with other cities.
