The media is correct. Most voters do not care that the Liberals are running a $30 billion deficit in this year’s budget. Others have already criticized you and called you a hypocrite, so that is not what my bitch is about. I’m not here to challenge you to criticize the Liberals. I’m here to challenge you to be honest with yourself in the future. When the opposition gets criticized for a $2 billion deficit, I challenge you to say ‘I don’t care. I didn’t care when the Liberals blew $30 billion.’ —Thinking Outside the Box

  1. My goodness! Harper’s conservatives are still ctrying? I think it’s time for medical intervention – spme lithium or Prozac or something… talk to your doctor about options.

  2. Bad question. Total budgeted expenses are $317.1 billion. Total budgeted revenues are $287.7 billion. So when you say “blew $30 billion”, which 30 billion of the 317.1 billion budget are you talking about?

  3. Remember that time Harper ‘lost’ and still hasn’t accounted for (let alone apologized for losing) 31 Billion dollars? Ah, the good old days, right?

  4. No I mean which part of the 317.1 billion they thinks is blown. Is it the money we’re spending on health care? education? industry subsidies? new infrastructure spending? public employee salaries? Saying that any spending over our projected revenues is blown money just doesn’t make sense.

I challenge the OB to say that “any deficit is blown money”, which seems to be their whole point, and is simply not true.

  5. There are other theories than the ‘blown money’ theory.

Possibly, the Liberals used credit to fund the extremely important stuff…to compensate for the budget that didn’t balance itself.

  6. Sure there are Great Value, although it’d be funny if that sound bite came true and our economy grew enough to balance the budget itself.

I recommend everyone go check out the PDF of the budget and just look at the Clip-Art styled title page. It looks like something I’d have put on a essay I wrote on a Windows 95 PC for 8th grade social studies.
