Fuck you Halifax for being such a dead city for all those underage. Who says that youth don’t enjoy music just as much as adults do? Is it really necessary for the majority of the Pop Explosion to be 19+?? We can’t get into clubs/bars, so at least let us enjoy some good music! We couldn’t even get into the Jazz Fest… during the middle of the afternoon. As if being underage doesn’t already suck, it is a HUGE piss off to have to miss the majority of live music (both local and big acts). I wish I had a fake ID, not so that I could go to some shitty club but so I could go see some live music. I’m legally an adult – I can vote and pay taxes – but I can’t even go to local shows? What the fuck Halifax… no wonder the youth crime rate is going up… there is nothing for us to do in this seemingly dull city!

  1. It’s the province’s liquor laws you have a problem with, son. Anywhere in Nova Scotia, Yuckmouth to Sydney…you aren’t getting in.

  2. You’re probably too young to know this … but it’s always been this way. What’s even more amazing is that there were no crazy crime sprees as the result of having no under-age shows for years on end. What you’ve said is, “Entertain us, or we’ll commit a crime.”

Guess what, OB, we used to host our own shows! Stop expecting others to entertain you. Start entertaining yourself. Take responsibility for yourself!

  3. Its common knowledge. If liquor is present then youth will not be allowed in.
Just have to accept your not 19 and that means waiting to see all these shows.

  4. Nah-it’s a legitimate bitch. The Jazz Fest? Really? It’s a shame that wasn’t an all-ages event. We need to get ‘the young people’ away from their phones and towards live performances.

  5. Go to the pavilion. We went to Cafe Ole in my day, and if we couldnt sneak into a bar we had to deal with it. Life just isnt fair 🙂

  6. you can’t be serious.. lol. First of all nobody of legal age wants to hang out with a bunch of little kids. You’re only cool to each other. You’re only not annoying to each other. As a typical little kid, you seem to have it in your head that being young is JUST WHAT YOU ARE. You’re acting like your age defines you. Which is grossly inaccurate. You’ll be old enough to play with the grownups someday. And then someday, much sooner than you’ll like, you’ll be too old to play with the grownups.

Get over it. Life gets WAY more unfair than that grasshopper. You should get used to being disappointed. This is the period of your life when you are disappointed the LEAST with what life is throwing at you. Toughen up.

  7. What’s the bitch about Halifax, would not other cities in other Provinces have similar age restrictions. I wouldn’t think it’s just here.

  8. I was going to say we had to wait – so can you – until I remembered that my friends and I started getting in to the bars when we were 14! Ha ha! I always thought – you’re letting me in because I’m tall. Did that mean when I turned 30 I’ll be like 18 feet tall?

  9. It’s not so much the shows, but there really is very little to do for minors in HRM, and I believe it does contribute to the crime.

  10. nah o.p., they aren’t left out, most choose not to be involved in shit, that doesn’t hurt or damage anyone. most of these little fucks, would be happy with a can of spray paint, or a knife at your throat. not saying all, but look at news lately, for a hint.
14-17 year olds are getting more arogant, and more ballsy, and the girls are in on it too. but usually it is the boys.

  11. if you couldn’t get into the jazz fest, do what a great chunk of you already do already….
    loiter around it.
You’ll still hear the music.. which is what you proclaim you only interested in anyways…

it sucks having to wait… and it sucks more the closer you get.
Just think though of those first few years where you can proudly display your actual ID when carded everywhere and be let in and basically go where you want….
before it gets old and you don’t give a fuck anymore.

That and yes, I_K said it…. you’d fucking annoy the rest of us until you grow up.

  12. OP, you are not 19 years old…

    And hold my beer
    While I kiss you’re girlfriend
cause she needs a real man
and not a boy like you-ou
    hold my beer
    yeah I”m a man on a mission
you don’t see what you’re missin
    but I do, so here
    hold my beer

  13. “no wonder the youth crime rate is going up… there is nothing for us to do in this seemingly dull city! “

I blame youth crime on 1. scum bag kids. and 2. dumb kids like you who use shit like this as an excuse for being a scum bag.

  14. There aren’t a lot of all age shows because when there are, there tends to be a lot of little kids on E because it’s easier to get and sneak in than alcohol and it gets shut down anyway. Just wait like everyone else.

  15. “the majority of the Pop Explosion to be 19+” – That means that some of the shows are ‘all ages’, but hey, that’s not good enough for UaE (SET).

Grow up kid, FotH’s right, make your own show, it’s a blast.

  16. What a whiner. There are numerous all ages shows at HPX. Tonight there are 5 all ages events, tomorrow night there are no less than 8, count ’em 8, all ages shows, and Saturday there’s 5, many including festival headliners. Some shows end up being at bars, because they’re the appropriately-sized and available venues. Get over it, OP.
