You idiots at Clean Nova Scotia can go fuck themselves. You will not get my old car(it’s worth more than the fucking $300 you’re offering. You want my car which I put time and money in so it runs great and looks good, well take a flying leap. What the fuck do you think we can get to replace it for that chump change (and anyone who takes the offer is a chump). My old car is as valuable to me as your stupid little two seater Smart (?) Car. And what is this 19 times more pollution crap (Emmsion controls have been around since at least the 1980’s). Man they must think we’re idiots. Bet they resell the ones they get for profit.

  1. I’ve got a 1991 hunk of rusted metal and wheels that I will gladly hand over for 300 clams. Thank you, Clean N.S.!

  2. yeah my POS 95 civic is about one breakdown away from the junk yard, I would gladly take $300 for it. Can someone post some information on this deal?

  3. My car qualifies, too, but I’m not doing it.

Hardly seems like anything to get upset about, though. Some people (unfortunately) could use 300 bucks even at the expense of losing their car, and might have some other options available to them. If you don’t think it’s worth it, don’t do it, simple as that. It’s not like a law or anything.

In actual fact newer cars are better on some sorts of emissions. Not, however, on the GHG front (on average, new cars are slightly *worse* in that regard), and then there’s the GHG emissions related to manufacturing new cars… really you have to factor in how much you drive, etc., to see if you really are making any improvement by getting rid of your clunker.

But again, if you don’t want to do it, no big deal, eh?

  4. Volvos were being built with California emission standards back in the mid 80s. There are still quite a lot of old clunker volvos out there on the road and I can guarantee they’re not spewing as much shit as some lame ass mid 2000s non-hybrid SUV.

  5. attention all:
the car has to be 25 years or older if I remember correctly.
y’all are going to have to wait it out for your 300 smackers.

  6. EAC’s Steer Clean website seems to have expired, but your car has to be 1995 or older, and still drivable, registered, etc. The point is to get cars that are still being driven off the road for an incentive. And when I was looking into it, youcould get a $300 tax credit, a free bike, or bus passes for 6 months, or the money towards a Vespa.
Car Heaven is the same idea http://www.carheaven.ca/

  7. When I heard this on the radio I figured it was some sort of half-assed government incentive thing to induce people into buying new cars to “stimulate the economy”…

  8. Hey, if the government of Nova Scotia is involved, there is nothing “half-assed” about it. It is 100%, completely assed!

  9. I just paid $400 to keep my 1993 on the road, and $800 the year before. I’m not taking $300 for it. I’ll get a new car when I can afford a monthly payment, or when the year’s repairs equal a year’s worth of payments. Bite me, car recyclers.

  10. right… 95 or older…gotta get my memory checked.
Now where did I put the yellowpages?
    hmmmmmmmm
    ah here they are…..
what did I need them for again?

    mmm pizza…. sounds good.
