If I get all my work done quickly, and decide to then spend the rest of my work day doing things I want to do, STOP trying to find things for me to do for you! Just because you’re busy and have loads of things that need doing because you’re inefficient at your job doesn’t mean that I should suffer because I’m good at mine. You get paid WAY more than I do, and I’m not going to spend my time making you look good or being your lacky.
So leave me alone, I’m TRYING to read LTWWB here.

I would love to complete my work early in the day and not have to work the rest of the time. Congratulations to the OP. I aspire to be like that or work Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from 10:AM – 3:PM with a full weeks salary. Why you think you deserve to be paid to do such a thing using employer’s time and resources (bandwidth) is beyond me, most of the working public and nearly 100% of employers. Pull your head out of the Coast and make yourself useful on company time.
I am a lackey, but not for other people who are supposed to be doing their own jobs. If I have more work than usualy I can’t go to them and say, hey, do half this for me. I have to work extra hard and get it done. So when I am the lucky one that day who doesn’t have as much to do as normal, or if I manage to get it all done quickly, I should be able to spend my free time doing what I want, as long as I’m still here to do the random things that come up.
Free time <> Company time
Company time does not mean co-workers time. If my boss or supervisor want to give me more work, that’s one thing. It’s my co-workers who are just inefficient at their own jobs who want me to do their work for them that piss me off.I am not refusing to do work for the rest of the day, I’m waiting for things to do that are part of my job, and while I wait, I might as well be reading things on the internet. But don’t expect me to stop doing that because you want me to do your job for you.
You have to be careful, too, about what you “help out” with when you’re not busy, because people quickly come to expect you to do it, forever. Next thing you know, you’re up to your eyes in work, and along comes Bitchy McBitch adding her work to your pile, and then you get the shit when it doesn’t get done. Not good.
