Why is it that if it’s known that one bridge is completely closed the bridge commission closes another entire lane for construction causing a backup of busker traffic from town? Couldn’t it wait until after dark or when the other bridge is open during the week?

I called the bridge commission and asked this very question this morning, as I was stuck in the same traffic jam, which was backed up to the blind curve on the approach to the bridge.
The commission’s web site says: “There will not be any work taking place on the MacKay Bridge that will impede traffic flow during construction on the Macdonald Bridge. “
The spokesperson had no knowledge of the MacKay construction and said she’d get back to me, but I haven’t yet heard anything…
Park at Alderney and take the ferry. Little more expensive, but no jams.
It could’ve been an emergency that needed fixing right away?
Busker traffic? I thought the stench from the Harbor scared the people away.
