i know you aren’t talking about that paper place. so it must be some other fly by night outfit. this sounds almost like city hall,but they are still scamming us, so can’t be them either.go to the b.b.b., ans labour boards, not the bitch boards o.p., and give them fucking hell.

Must be that company in downtown Halifax that helped migrants get into Canada……at least until Immigration and the RCMP shut them down and arrested a few of them.

Yep, you guessed it 🙂 Also to the tips comment: We had to by order of the owners keep them in the safe over night due to past situations involving theft. If the till was short, it came out of our tips:(
Hoping to get the word out and hopefully obtain some sort of justice to the many loyal employees whose hard work went without pay or recognition.
If the till is short, you buy a better till or you fire the employee, you don’t go around stealing tips from your employees. Thats definitely not ethical. I’m not even sure that is legal.

This situation sucks, HK. You probably haven’t been paid for that cheque that bounced, let alone the work you’ve done since. Not paying your employees is akin to stealing.
is this a bankruptsy? if so, unpaid wages have some sort of priority status that supercedes the creditors.
OT and unpaid holidays don’t, just the wages.
and expect it to take several months or more, so you need to look up a gov agency, sorry, I can’t remember the name. However, the good news is there is a gov ageny that will reimburse you most lost wages up front, then when the trustee finally gets their butt in gear, they will subtract that amount from the formula that is used to determine how much you get.
My wife went through this last year. Her employer went bankrupt in August 2011. She got a compensating paycheque in Sept or Oct from the gov agency. and then she got a final cheque a few months ago from the trustee that was basically chocolate bar money.
If anyone know the name of the gov office, please post it, there are a few readers that look like they could use it. Best of wishes to you.
