It’s another one of those dumb as comments that people follow up with to excuse them selves from any ramifications due to the content of the preceeding comment. Same as “is it just me or… “, “Forgive me but… ” “Sorry to say that…” “… thats just my two cents.”

But I also think “just sayin” is a slogan, and like most slogans, is a shortcut from making a point by using the brain. It’s a lazy person’s device.

i use it for effect, being facetious when i have deliberately said something outrageous. deliberate slang, same as using ‘yer’ or ‘yeh’. or doh!

maybe. or maybe it’s because the person who’s just saying just saying is honest, forthright and opinionated and knows that sensitive, sniveling headcases such as yourself (and most people i know actually) cannot STAND blunt honesty. So they try, in their own way, to preface the honesty you can’t stand with a sort of apology.
I used to do that but not anymore. when i realized that the very honest are usually quite unpopular, my ego protected me from the fury of those who mistake sugar-coated pandering for Great Truth. now i make ABSOLUTELY NO apologies.
