Just because somebody disagrees with you doesn’t mean they’re a bully.

Do you know what BULLY means? While you look it up you might as well look up hypocrisy. Your “fight back” tactics are dangerously close to what you claim to be fighting. —Over easy.

  1. Nowadays, a bully is someone who you don’t like, a food that tastes bad, a black cat that crosses your path, road construction workers, people who won’t participate in lynch mobs… even me!

  2. Excellent bitch. Too many people have thin skins and think that if you disagree with them that you are mean or are picking on them or harassing or any other negative comment and would probably take you to a Human Rights Tribune if they could. But sometimes they are just plain wrong and just don’t want to hear it.

  3. I don’t think someone should back down to a bully they can either walk away or stand up to them. I prefer to stand up to them, especially when picking on someone else with no good reason to be on their case to begin with, it’s called having a backbone.

  4. A MIXED MESSAGE

This bitch is excellent but lacks focus. While it is true that just because someone disagrees with you doesn’t mean they are bullying you, the claim that one’s “fighting back” tactics are hypocritical on the grounds that they themselves constitute bullying is counter-intuitive. In other words, the one claiming to be bullied is a victim and not normally supposed to engage in bullying himself. A bullying victim? Hardly.

    Thank you.

  5. AN ASSESSMENT

Readers will recall that I thought this bitch was confused, that it lacked focus on the grounds that the victim of bullying would himself later engage in bullying was counterintuitive (“A Mixed Message,” 07/24, 9:55AM). I concluded with the comment, “A bullying victim? Hardly.”
On reflection I feel that this comment, valid as far as it went, opened the door to a more detailed critique of the bitch, one for which a mark will be assigned. This will be the first of what I have called “An Assessment.”

    STRUCTURE

Nothing of value can occur without structure which lends the bitch both coherence and force. In the present case the conclusion – the victim turns bully – did not follow from the premises – the original bully himself becomes a victim. What is required is to provide quotations from both the bully and the victim to provide narrative force to the bitch.

    CONTENT

The paradox of the victim becoming the bully was very satisfactory. One rarely comes across something like this as most bitches lack dimension. They are all on one level and frequently fail to engage the mind.

    LANGUAGE

While brief, the level of language employed in the bitch language was acceptable but use might be made of a Thesaurus to vary such usage. This of course, does not apply to those proficient in English but, for the most part, proficiency is an aspiration rather than a reality.

    PHILOSOPHY OR THOUGHT-CONTENT

The appeal here lay in the fact that disagreement need not be confused with bullying – a valuable lesson for all. Indeed, it is by such disagreement that greater understanding might be achieved. It is, of course, the methodology employed in philosophy, one which lends both greater specification and clarification to both the concepts in play.

    MARK: B+

  6. LANGUAGE: “While brief, the language employed in the bitch was acceptable…”

Editing was not possible as the comment froze on the screen. Can you imagine?

  7. Yes, as a matter of fact I am but I feel it can be too cryptic, even abrupt. Suitable for the boardroom perhaps but not for a social site such as ours. I trust you agree.

  8. bullying…the use or threat of violence to impose their will over someone else….anything else is not bullying. I personally love bullies. i moved around a lot as a kid. everywhere i went was the established hierarchy. everywhere i went that heirarchy came smashing down. violence or the threat of, is only countered by an equally proportioned amount of violence in self defence. bullies…ha. you want to be a victim. you have succeeded.

  9. For every action there is an equal/opposite reaction. In some circumstances there are those who totally become unreasonable and overreact to what would normally be inconsequential actions.

  10. One can only be pushed so far before pushing back;that’s survival not being a bully or hypocrite.
