Judgment call
To the sanctimonious “Thou shalt not shop on the Sabbath” taxi lady: What’s with the lecture about this being “God’s country” and the sneering, “Are you from Ontario? I thought so…” attitude when we asked for a taxi to a department store on Sunday morn

Agreed. I hope you told here to stuff her stupid beliefs up her ass. If someone wants to do the churchy thing then bully for them cause I don’t care but keep it out of all of our faces.
Since moving to Ireland over a year ago where Sunday shopping occurs without anyone batting an eyelash it puzzles me why Halifax still doesn’t have it…do people really think everyone is in church and not just recovering from a night out? Get with the times Churchy Hfaxers.
I just think that there is a large % of our population that do not want to have Sunday shopping for no other reason then to be insured that they can have a guarenteed day off. Religion does not even factor into this for alot of people. I thought by law, if people wish to practise their religon and required time off for this, an employer had to give this to their employee. if they want time off for family reasons (which I totally believe everyone should have)I believe people are allowed to request for days off and or schedule days that they cannot work. I think we are fighting an up hill battle that everyone knows we will eventually be succumbing to. Employers need to follow the labor laws and employees have to realize work is something that is not always pleasant or on the days we want it to be on. If this was common tradition still being followed through out Canada I would be more inclined to belive we should still keep Sundays -“shop free” but realistically we have not followed that tradition in many years- there are alot businesses open now. Sunday shopping laws were essentially about everything being closed with those few exceptions of corner stores for emergency items. In this day we are just fooling ourselves if we feel that we are still the only province to “not have Sunday Shopping”. Let’s get real, people if we were really following this by-law as it was intended, we might have a leg to stand on for the argument, but we are not. The only thing that allows us to beleive we have no “Sunday Shopping” is a few square feet! Why fight over a foot when there are miles of battles to be won! yes we voted, and the vote was for No Sunday Shopping- obviously if we are still having heated debates over this subject something needs to be changed or adjusted for it has to be “put to bed”. Either we become the society we think we are or we bite the bullet and follow the rest of our Country!
is this a christian nation?, a free nation?, or neither of the above
Who’s this God person everyone keeps talking about??The cold beer store is open on Sundays, shop there, shut the fuck up and have a drink…shop don’t shop, I don’t care…I’m gettin drunk
