Trying to find a job with limits of what you can and cannot do is becoming very frustrating. The jobs available for my limits are very little. How about companies stop being so picky with less requirements so people can actually have a chance at working? So tired of seeing something than can be a potential then see all these bullshit requirements. I’m not smart enough for school but I know I can work. But none of these fricking companies will even look at me. —About to Give up Looking for Work

Wha, so all the qualified people, who went to school to gain the education and qualification for the job, should have to compete with those who don’t? That makes no sense.
I don’t know who told you you weren’t ‘smart’ enough to gain education but, they lied. Everyone learns a different way. Find yours and invest a bit of yourself into yourself. You can do it!
Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re probably right. ~ H. Ford
OP, most people don’t like to look for work because it is a long series of rejections. Use this to your advantage and figure out how to launch a job search that is way more aggressive than the other guys. Best of wishes to you.
…’How about companies stop being so picky with less requirements so people can actually have a chance at working?’
This is why you can’t find a job. If I’m an employer, I have every right to be ‘picky’ about who I hire.
I agree with Cumonalready on the ‘smart enough’ comment. Even volunteering can educate you in certain fields.
Man hunting jobs in this town is tough. Many want you to have own car,MA, available evenings, weekends, short notice, for $11.00/hour.
I agree! We should lower the requirements and stop being so picky. It would be much easier to find mechanics, doctors, dentist, pilots, bus drivers, cops, nurses, lawyers, carpenters, welders, managers, servers, chefs and fire fighters if we just weren’t so darn picky about requirements.
I give the OB full credit for actually wanting to find a job and better themselves. And there is a grain of truth in this bitch. Government has spent hundreds of millions over the years paying major corporations to create jobs but then most of those jobs seem to eventually end up disappearing.
Maybe that money would be better spent finding ways to get certain folks into the work force. Some people have ADHD or other limitations and don’t do well in a classroom setting. Some people simply fall through the cracks and have a hard time getting education due to difficult family situations. If government focused more on apprenticeship programs it might help get those difficult to employ folks some hands on experience and on-the-job training.
And remember the saying, “There, but by the grace of God, go I.”
Not smart enough for school? I don’t believe that. You write clearly, and your post is better than many others that show up on LTWWB.
My guess is that you are much smarter than you think, you’ve just been fed false information (probably by idiots).
Sometimes you need to reject those old ideas and start replacing them with better ideas that will help you become the kind of person you want to be.
Yeah don’t even get me started on trying to find a job in this backwater burg. It’s been rejection after rejection for me.
I have the qualifications, I make sure to dress appropriately, I always try to be on time, and I am polite to not only the interviewer but also to the other people who work at the job site.
But no!!!!! They have to give it to some trashy high school drop out who not only came to the interview stinking of sweat and filth while wearing clothes filled with holes, but also was very rude and nasty with the interviewer and the workers on the job site.
It’s amazing how far a great cover letter can go! Even if you don’t have all necessary requirements sometimes a well written cover letter will at least get you an interview.
Employers get a lot of resumes when they run an ad. Make yours stand out (and use spell check).
