So this festival builds up interest over the last number of years and then switches gears to increasing profits by only giving a maximum amount of product at a time….for $57/ticket! Good luck aiming to try everything you’d like to, or pull aside and chat with some friends if you need to spend a total of 2.5 hours in line getting your next mouthful! —patron

  1. KEYNESIAN ECONOMICS:

You are quite correct to be irate. Paying $57 for your next mouthful is outrageous considering the level of talent in the greater Halifax area. You can lead a horticulture but good luck getting her to think.

    A Pleasure As Always,

    Cheerio!

  2. I can only assume beerfest. I’ve watched people puke on the person in front of them while awaiting their beer. Thankfully the dude who was puked on was wearing a windbreaker so it wasn’t soaked into his clothes. Puker just casually walked away, probably to a different beer line.

  3. I actually found it odd and disturbing how people consume alcohol here.

I had a few friend visit from our of town and they also noticed the same thing.
I enjoy a few drinks with friend but enjoy the taste.
I noticed lately that there’s a trend to consume alcohol to the extent of blacking out rather than actually enjoying a few with friends.
Same as the beerfest @Take a Step Back. I mean those people are just drinking and drinking and drinking because it’s just there and they want to drink as much as they can!
I honestly don’t understand the concept or culture! I don’t remember it being like this when I was in University or college. When did this shift happen?
It’s actually a scary and worrying trend!

  4. Well being 28 I may not be far enough removed from university to have the same view as you Randomness but I feel like this is one of those things where a few people will give a larger group a bad name. I enjoy a beer or a glass of wine for the taste, but I also enjoy having numerous beers and/or glasses of wine to get drunk, as do most (all) of my friends. None of us are alcoholics. People enjoy the feeling and being able to let loose and party. Getting black out drunk is rarely the goal, but if you don’t check yourself it’ll happen. I’m well past the puking/blackout phase, although I’ve made some poor decisions due to drinking too much in the not so distant past.

I don’t think this is anything new with kids these days, or that there is an upward trend in getting wasted. I know plenty of people in the 50s who did and still do. I don’t think it’s anything to worry over.
