To the people who say so long NSCAD, no one will notice and time to shut it down… you obviously have zero knowledge of the art community. NSCAD means a lot to a great many of people and for you oblivious dummies to comment under articles about the school saying such silly things about something you know nothing about irks the hell out of me. Halifax will lose it’s spunk with no NSCAD! Nova Scotia Needs NSCAD whether you are aware of it or not! —Proud NSCADian

  1. If you really feel compelled to produce such master works as :
    “Cdr. Riker Eating Hot Dogs”
    http://www.koffii.com/ProcessImage/4/Profi…

    “Fabio The Ventriloquist”
    http://static.atlasobscura.netdna-cdn.com/…

    “Gene Simmons’ Family Jewel”

    “Maritime Titty-Twister”

    or
    “Requiem for Occupy N.S.”

you’ll just have to do it the old-fashioned way. Find a wealthy patron.

  2. NSCAD – Nova Scotia Cannot Afford DePlace

Suck it up VanGouche – ya need to print moolah in order to survive……..hmmm, maybe this could be an elective for you along with the required basket weaving technique.

  3. The study of art at NSCAD isn’t merely art for art’s sake. It is part of the great project of civilization: the building of a cultural edifice meant to withstand the forces of ignorance and bring meaning to our continued existence on this earth.

If NSCAD fails, the armies of darkness will march all over the face of the earth.

    It that what you want?

  4. Annnnnd how’s that workin’ out for ya these days?

  5. Sorry Painy…Ivan FTW…(whew!)
Sorta puts a whole new spin on the term, “Mount a frontal assault” (sorry, couldn’t resist)

  6. I wish I had blowtorched the money I wasted on the half dozen night courses I took at that pretentious dump – actually ‘prententious dump’ was probably one of their former exhibits next to the one where they tied 144 green garbage bags together. Fortunately, I am able to earn my living via graphics without the benefit of one of their perforated, flushable degrees. Also safe for septic systems.

  7. That’s a little conceited to think that Nova Scotia will fall apart without NSCAD. But I guess I didn’t expect anything less.

  8. LOL…..funny OB. I couldn’t give a damn about NSCAD. The school is a financial disaster….that just goes to show the arts are not profitable. I can’t wait until NSCAD is bankrupt, bought by a real university, and then gutted for science classes.

  9. Sorry for your loss OP, but it is a bit pretentious to assume NSCAD is all of the artsy zest in this city. As a wise person once said ” True art and talent cannot be taught”

  10. rent out those ‘galleries’ to businesses and perhaps once in a while we’ll see someone actually in them….

  11. I’m sure a coffee shop/gallery would make a killing. FRED is like that but also has a salon and can afford to give their employees benefits ;D
