Such a difficult topic to pick sides on. I like criminals being treated like criminals and getting locked up. I don’t like innocent children losing their parent, they are the ones being punished without having both parents. I guess I’ll wait for the Good dog molly to pick a side first, only if she doesn’t resort to BB guns in a courtroom and blame it on Christmas movies.
Children don’t need criminal parents. Parents who commit crimes deserve to lose their children.
Mister Meaty; You are correct. My point was from the childrens view, they’re the ones being punished. Like you said, “Parents who commit crimes deserve to lose their children”, but do the children deserve that punishment? Its a difficult topic is all I meant.
On top of that, are these children better off then? Do they get adopted into a wonderful six figure white collar family? Or maybe do they get shuffled to relatives that don’t want them? Or maybe they’ll end up in a wonderful youth home or group home, they’re prestigious from what I’ve heard. Then when these children grow up, do you think that they will have no bad feelings toward society in general over their upbringing?

Using a child as a chess piece when you are in front of a judge is a shitty thing to do. However, to blanket all parents with a record as not deserving to be in their children’s lives is a big leap and not all fall into this category.
You have to ask yourself “What would Hitler do?”
The law is very lenient in many cases. Shortened jail times, house-arrests, etc. If these fathers take the time they get “off” their sentence and try to be a good role model to their children then it may not be a bad thing. Too bad this rarely happens as they are out fucking up again and again and again.
