So here it goes.
I’m 19, I understand the appeal of going back to your playground at night and kicking it oldskool. Some people get high, some people have sex, some people actually just play.
I understand doing that…. at night.
What I don’t understand is seeing kids who are fourteen to seventeen years of age just SITTING on play structures in the middle of the afternoon. Then all of the actual kids just run around the rest of play ground avoiding the ‘big kid’ zone.
Get out of there! I know it’s not a big deal, but really. Are you impressing the six year olds by smoking a joint on the swings at 2 in the afternoon? Their parents?
Wait until it gets dark out.
Your childhood is over.

I’ve encountered this at my local playground. I told them, nicely of course, that the playground is for children and if you want to sit and chat, there’s plenty of benches of to the side, not in the way of the little kids. They left. If kids had more stuff to do around halifax, they wouldn’t feel the need to hang out at the local playground. I encounter this problem every weekend. What to do with the kids. Bowling, swimming, mini putt, discovery center, museum… Not really much else. How many of those things do you think 14 year olds want to do?
I too have come across this before and I’ve found that if you ask politely, most of them will move off. They’re young enough to remember what it was like to be a kid and old enough to know better. So long as you aren’t condescending or rude about it, they’ll usually move somewhere else.
that was always fun… at night.
