What the hell is with teenagers these days going outside in cold weather like this wearing HOODIES and not COATS?! Two days in a row I’ve been seeing local kids waiting for the school bus wearing jeans and sweaters and nothing else when it’s -14 outside! What is wrong with their parents? If I had kids and they were going out wearing that in this weather I would smack them! Sometimes you have to sacrifice fashion for NOT DYING OF HYPOTHERMIA.

  1. Even if their parents gave a crap, they’re probably working when their kids leave for school.

Kids think winter gear is uncool, therefore they don’t wear it. (At least, that’s how it was back in *my* teenage years, a million light years ago).

  2. Perhaps these kids aren’t wearing their winter gear because their parents wouldn’t spend countless hundreds of dollars on the coats they wanted….. It’s part of growing up and being rebellious. And yeah, these days there are a lot less stay at home parents and teens ARE left to get themselves ready and leave for the bus/school by themselves. Besides, who wants to wear a heavy winter coat when you can show off the American Eagle hoodie you got for Christmas?

I can assure you that the kids who are wearing the proper winter gear belong to parents who DO give a damn. Years of “supposed” humiliation for being properly dressed in the winter as a child allow me to attest.

  3. Smack a kid these days and you’ll have more problems on your hands than a fucking hoodie. Too bad because it has created a culture of little MeMeMeMe Monsters who know how to manipulate their parents and the system.

  4. I guess I would be one of those youngins who doens’t dress warm enough for the winter…but I live in the draftiest house in the world, so I’m pretty much immune to cold weather ;D. It’s not a “I don’t want to look stupid with this super warm coat” thing, I’m just not cold.

  5. I was out talking to some smokers yesterday in my shirt…
what the fuck do you care if someone else isn’t as affected by the cold as you???
how does it impact you at all, really?

    mind your own sodding business.

  6. hahaha –> zZz… do your Mommy and Daddy not buy you the brand of winter wear you would like? Something tells me you will be getting a spanking upon going home again tonight…..

  7. Sure sign you’re getting old, when you use the words “kids these days”.

This isn’t new, I remember adults saying the same thing about teenagers back when I was one. I won’t say how long ago that was. Teenagers want to be “cool” and for some reason, they perceive not wearing appropriate clothing as cool. But, be sympathetic, their brains haven’t completely formed yet.

  8. I just may… but it would be the ‘good’ kind of spanking…
    and not ‘self inflicted’ either.

  9. jesus, that’s not so bad, i see this one fucking idiot walking around in shorts. and it don’t matter how cold it is. and the oher night, he was walking up my road, his fucking legs were actually turning blue. what a fucking douche, as any of them are.

  10. ah, we had one of those in university….
we called him jebus because he said
    “jesus keeps me warm”

  11. I went out for coffee with my dad this morning and even though the car is in underground parking he still INSISTED I button up my coat. I turned 28 this week.

How’s THAT for involved parenting? 😛

I’m betting, it’s the parents who aren’t around when their kids leave for school because they’re working. Some of the things I wore in the cold growing up as a latch key kid would probably make both my parents shudder…and lecture my ass off.

  12. They’re on ecstasy, they don’t notice.
or maybe hoodie technology has advanced in recent years.
at any rate, eat thier shorts.

  13. As a teenager I was always super warm, even in the winter. Call it young metabolism. It’ll catch up to them in 15 years. In the meantime just make fun of them like the rest of us do. It’s nothing to bitch about.

  14. So you like to watch children and young adults?

If they were your offspring you would smack them?

The cherry on top, is the slippery slope argument at the end of your rant; you compare not wearing a coat to immediate death.
    gold star dude

  15. “”So you like to watch children and young adults?”‘

    ?!

What nonsense are you trying to infer here with this childish comment?

If idiot teens want to go around without proper coats, wearing sneakers…it’s nothing new. And every year some moron somewhere crashes his car and freezes to death in a ditch. Oh well.

  16. Did any one notice if any of these teenagers seen in the cold with no jacket were wearing a toque???
hey man if dumb teenagers want to jump off a cliff, let them. If dumb teenagers don’t wanna wear coats, let them. stupid is as stupid does lol
i know someone who has excellent circulation, and a high metabolism. He would be one of the ones in a hoody ( or bunny-hug for you Saskatchewan folk lol) at -14, but he’s 28. To put it into perspective: If he wears long johns, pants, t-shirt, hoody, and a spring coat while walking around in -14, he’ll sweat till he gets wet, cold, and hypothermic…just from walking…so he has to remove the coat to prevent death, walking around in “only a hoody” lol things are not always what they seem. Underneath the hoody could have been 10 shirts also lol

  17. If you’re still moping around in a hoody when you’re 28, you’re most likely an armed robber…

  18. I walk the 15min from my house to the gym wearing sweats and a hoody. It has been cold this week, but I can manage. After lifting, however, my body temperature is so much higher that I don’t even notice the cold. I also don’t bring my coat because I don’t want to stink it up (it can only be dry-cleaned).

I don’t shower at the gym because I don’t like holding and bringing anything. Just my keys and a mentality to work my ass off in the gym.

I also wear shorts a lot (but not in this weather)!

  19. I, too, am one of these crazy people who can handle the cold better than most others. In fact, if I’m only going relatively short distances, I can often handle weather like this in just a t-shirt. I like nice cool, brisk walks and find it helps me to be tough and “man up” (GRUNT GRUNT GRUNT!). For me at least, I prefer weather a bit cooler to weather which is way too hot. Walking in +45 C is far less pleasant than walking in -25 C weather, trust me.

  20. lol I never wear coats, there too big and stuffy, hard to move around in. I used to be the only kid at the bus stop with a hoodie on, it’s not like your standing out there for more than 2 hours, you sound like my parents..

  21. Sure OP I meet people like you all the damn time…your
F^(#!+@ cold…so I gotta wear what you think will be warm enough !
Well you know what…I’m hungry, why don’t you go eat a F^(#!+@ cheeseburger !
Makes about the same amount of sense don’t it* !

    & yes I said don’t it…I’m that pissed.

  22. cosmolilly… I think we’re all hot blooded….
    ‘cept maybe Kay.
    her scales give her away…

And I think you actually run colder than most people…. since the cold doesn’t affect you as much. If person A feels comfy @ 25 degrees and person B feels comfy @ 22 degrees then when it’s 20 degrees, person A will bitch and complain and put on a sweater… person B likely won’t. they feel more comfy because it’s closer to their comfort zone.

same for summer….. I sweat like a bastard lavaskiing on a volcano while others are just out enjoying the sun.
