Dear Medical Center: We spell it “centre” in Canada. Thanks for annoying the hell out of me every time I have to see you and your huge incorrect sign. I hope your healthcare will be better than your spelling. —Sigh

  1. Languages evolve OP, through common usage and external influences. British vs. American spelling – not something worth declaring Jihad over. Last time I looked at a map it was still a pretty big country so I’d say there’s room for both.

  2. Ahha, I know what place OP’s referring to.

However, who the fuck cares? Centre/center…. jesus christ.

    Get a life.

  3. OP, how about taking better care of your health, then you won’t have to be in the medical centre (CENTRE) reading the sign.

  4. … there are some things one cannot control Seb, like the turning on and off of Onco-genes, but you don’t care!

    Meh, whatever.

  5. I see it as Center = middle; centre = building. Then again I am a grammar-is-a-lost-art nut so don’t get me started.

  6. I think both are acceptable in canada but still Centre, and Colour, harbour, damn yanks.

  7. a center, is a thing, that is in the middle of anything. a centre, is something that people go to, that is in the middle of anything. they can be used interchangably by some, in speaking, but not in context with the written word. holy fuck gang, where the hell did that come from, i must be sick today?

  8. As a medical transcriptionist, I can verify that “centre” is the correct Canadian spelling (therefore the American spelling would be wrong), and that “centre” is the correct term for a building. And since when are people not allowed to be annoyed by incorrect spelling? Since the current generation gave up learning how to spell I guess.

  9. Just thought some people might like to know the OP was right. Why are you bothering to reply if you don’t care?
