  1. and for those of us who dont have kids, and have $46,000 in student loan debt, bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im torn bc if computers and information systems are the first thing to collapse on us, no more LTWWB, but no more bad credit…..plus i have enough canned food in my house to last us til the next millenium. my brother and i were really baked last night and talked about going into the woods and biulding an underground bunker, anyone else game? or high?

  2. lots of the reasons that things are going up is that people jump to the next new thing and since it appears on the surface to be the better solution, the problems that it then creates arent thought about. This was the case with food prices. the switch to that biodiesel shit is great for the enviroment, but some countries have made it like mandatory for many things…. (like buses and cars) and now they require so much corn that fields everywhere are switched over to grow that lucrative crop. While it was a great solution for the enviroment, it is a horrible solution in terms of world food prices. One of them things that wasnt really a priority at the invent of the biodiesel.Gas should go up. People have taken the convience of driving WAYYYYYY too far. The price wouldnt nearly be as high if people 30-40 years ago didnt make this car thing something that people depended on to the extent it is now.Take a look at how much gas is burned each day at any number of drive thrus….. at one part in dartmouth, you can bank, buy beer, buy ice cream, go thru 4 dount drive thrus, get fast food from 3 places…… all within 3 sets of lights of each other and all without getting outta your car. The demand for fuel just for that …….. a HUGE increase from say the 80’s. I am not saying drive thrus are the source of the problem with gas prices, but just look at any drive thru. If you see 5 cars in line…….. think of how much fuel is being burnt going no where, all for a cup of coffee that costs $1.25 and could be got just by walking into the store.Go stand in front of the parking garages of any office tower downtown. Watch how many cars come in with only one person in the car. If you are going to tell me that there isnt another person that lives within 20 minutes of you, that you couldnt car pool? I understand that this wouldnt work for EVERYONE, but look at how many people it could work for. I would blame goverments for gas prices, but governments are the biggest wasters of gas

  3. correction, i wouldnt blame governments for gas prices, as they arent the biggest gas wasters

  4. wow homie, i havent posted here in a while but i always love reading your posts, they’re very thought-provoking and well-informed and as a person who can be unintentionally ignorant as a result of lax public schooling, i really respect your style. i feel sometimes like people here jump on those who are uninformed instead of trying to positively build them up with new knowledge. i like that you seem very supportive of others and their statements even when you dont agree. just thought i’d show you some love….

  5. thanks you anony. It appears that looking at the ENTIRE picture is a fault as deemed by some. A few here take it as me being a know it all. I do not really see it as that, as i am only pointing out things that we know but dont use when passing judgement on things. I mean we could chew the government out for gas prices, but really, are they at fault? Not really, Look what would happen if we lowered the tax on gas. 1) roads that we are already complaining about the condition of, get less money tossed at them. So if you complain about your gas costing $1.80, shut the fuck up when you hit a pot hole and have to suffer $500 damage. You cant have it both ways.2) More people would go out and drive, which hurts the enviroment, fucks up the roads which you are putting less cash on and creates more chances for gridlock, which in turn, slows down the rate of delivery, which in turn, puts higher costs on food anyways. Blaming the government is easy to do, but since they only make $150k (non top of the liner’s that is) really, government is only one thing, and that is normal citizens like me and you. So really blaming the goverment is a cop out for either 1) our bad voting 2) our inability to actually see what goes into the choices they make.while they do make bad choices, look at who profits from these choices, you can say major corporations, but that isnt who is fixing the roads, building the shit the government pays for, aids the ill of the province. The government is us, helping us. Not everyone can be helped equally. Conversely, the government only reacts when its citizens create the need for action. In the case of gas and food prices, the goverment really had little to do with it. The taxes they increased, isnt to hurt us, its because people have little tolerance of things nowaways and demand shit be done pronto, regardless of cost. Gas taxes increased to raise more revenue since it is us that damage the roads. thanks for the kind words

  6. Would somebody please justify why a place the size and location of Prince Edward Island has gas eight cents LESS a litre? Oh, right, there’s not as many highways to repair. O.K. so why does New Brunswickers pay 8 cents less with MORE roads to repair than N.S.????And, Premier Gym Shoe, why the fuck don’t you take the goddamn public transit? Oh, yeah, like out my way, THERE IS NONE!!

  7. TTFN…the reason why our gas is 8 cents cheaper is due to IRAC…Island Regularatory and Appeals Commission. Long story short it’s a commitee set up to deem what is a reasonable increase in gas prices whenever there is a gas hike announced.

  8. North Rustico! Sweet… I go there every year, I’m going for a week in June!!! Cant freakin WAIT!Stupid gas prices… Gonna be a tight driving budget this year when I am on vacation!!

  9. Lucky you, CAT, I love the Island, especially the North Shore. Maybe I can bunk out at the Wax Museum in Cavendish and pretend I’m Madonna after a severe bender.

  10. Rustico, AKA the Crick (creek). That is quite the place. It is rumored to have it’s own phone book featuring names like: Jimmy by the River, Jack down by the shack, and nicknames of the locals as actual entries. I have not seen the phone book but have heard of it for years. Very down to earth people there. A real community.

  11. I’ve been advised; that the reason why everything is going up is because the VLT’S and the Casino’s are getting most of the revenue. So everything else has to go up because no money is being put into society.
