Three words. Vaseline Intensive Care.
Exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate. Try something gentle or mild to start, or use cetaphil and a little face loofah.
I have the same issue. The skin is very tight and dry on my face, especially in the winter. Try scrubbing your face with a little bit of sugar every day, and after about a week you’ll find that the dead skin will go away. Also, you need a good moisturizer, which can be hard to find if you’ve got skin like mine. Try the 5 minute test: apply moisturizer, and if after 5 minutes your skin feels tight, it isn’t rich enough. I use 2 kinds: Clinique’s moisture surge extra thirsty skin relief – quite expensive, but very worthy. And Pond’s dry skin cream (which is more affordable and extra rich – i always use this one in the winter).Good luck..i know how irritating it can be.
I agree with Poop, it’s worth it to spend the money on a good cream. Yon Ka is expensive, but the Creme 28 is probably perfect for what you have; I had the same thing the 1st year I moved away, probably my skin adapting to the new climate, and this cream cleared me in less than a month. It smells amazing too
Don’t waste your money on expensive creams. You’re paying for advertising campaigns. There’s been various studies done on this issue and the conclusions were pretty much the same, cheap face cream does the same thing as the expensive shit.
I know what you mean TTFN, some of the more expensive creams I tried werent as good as some of the cheaper ones I’ve tried. But I’ve tried about 50 different brands of cream on my face since I started using moisturizer and the one I’m currently using is by far the best. I’ve never seen a single ad for Yon Ka..my doctor reccomended it to me. Sometimes you do get what you pay for. I agree with you about the Vaseline Intensive Care, I use it on my body and love it. But I dont know if it’s meant for the face.
I’ve wasted a shit load of money on cheaper creams that did nothing but take up space in my bathroom cupboard. I don’t mind paying the extra money for something i know is going to work for me.
I’m kinda with poop, but I hate admitting it – I’ve tried so many products over ther years but the ones that have always worked best for me are the ones that cost a little more. I always try a sample pr trial size first though – I don’t like spending $100 on something that DOESN’T work, that pisses me off.
Poop it sounds like you have the same clutter problem I have in my bathroom. I had to put in new shelves for all my bottles. Now I’m really strict about it – I don’t let myself buy something new until I run out of something else. It’s hard though, when I see a deal or a special. Those damn “bonus times” will be the end of me yet…
Qwerty, it’s funny that you mentioned bonus time.Me, my best friend, my mom, and my aunt are all in on it, and there’s always SOMETHING in that bag that you don’t want. (sometimes it’s everything.) So whenever bonus time comes around, the four of us trade off the stuff we don’t want. It’s ridiculous, but i don’t like lipstick, my mother doesn’t wear eye shaddow..etc. It’s kind of funny, but it allows me to get rid of the crap i don’t want. The system works!
That’s a good idea. I save the ones I don’t like, or repeats of stuff I already have, and wrap them and send them out as “stocking stuffer” type gifts at Christmas and birthdays. I have so many tiny mascaras, I think it’s been about 7 years since I actually paid for mascara.
Heyyy..you’re onto something there! 🙂
oh poop i feel for ya. Been there done that. I find that if creams work and cost a little bit more then its worth it.
I found the pond’s line of scream to work (for OP) also for facial cleanser if you are on a budget Exact (Walmart) brand works and exfoliates great!
Hear that, hon? She feels for ya. Even though you’re not complaining or suffering in any way. I bet she likes your style on the coast, too.
She feels for me so much in fact, that her reply mirrored my own post. Now THAT’S commitment! I feel for you too, hon. I really, really do.
Oops, and the cardinal rule for dry skin – DRINK WATER!!! I’ve come to the conclusion that dehydration and deep sleep deprivation are the root causes of so many more ailments and annoyances than we realize right now.
poop i noted it. i won’t feel for ya again . no worries
I like Keri fast-absorbing, unscented. Works for me all year round, and I like Rusk “purify” shampoo for a dry, itchy scalp; it contains cucurbita ( a natural astringent, according to the bottle) and tea-tree oil, good for the scalp, from my experience. No dandruff in the winter, not like years gone past. I thought if the o.p. had a dry forehead, their scalp might be dry as well…just a suggestion.
