…I boarded the ferry in Dartmouth headed for, what on that day, seemed like a pointless job. I moved to the top level hoping to take in the view and appreciate that I still had a view TO appreciate. You were sitting alone. Your head was down, and I could see and hear the tears and heart wrenching sobs. I sat down next to you and put my arm around you. You put your head on my shoulder and cried some more. When we docked in Halifax we stood, and walked our separate ways without knowing each others’ names, in fact not a single word was said. Not a single word was needed. In a chaotic uncertain time you shared what was the most human moment I’d shared with anyone. Thank you. —A Shoulder
