In any event, I hate it when people go all ‘moral’ on someone because of their life choices that seemingly aren’t affecting them (the judgey judging person). If someone wants to drive to work? Let ’em. It’s THEIR money they’re spending on gas, insurance, maintenance, car payment, etc….
People need to mind their own damn business!

OP, I get a similar response about my truck from snooty car owners. I love it when they try to borrow my truck to move something, and I remind them of what they have said about my truck. Some of them I help, others I won’t. It all depends on how snooty they were.
I think a lot of this might be in your mind OP!
Just FYI, there, OP, but probably 9 out of 10 people that use transit do so because they can’t afford a car. I doubt very many of them really do get self-righteous about using transit; the vast majority of them would probably dearly love to be able to afford a vehicle.
Of the other 10 percent, the ones who could afford a car – most of them probably have one already – but choose to use transit, they’ve just spent years and years having a much more pleasant commute than you, spending way less on gas and maintenance, and not having to dick around with parking. For the month or two that they can’t use transit they may go back to using their car, or walking, or carpool – they are most of them trivially inconvenienced. I hate to burst your bubble here, but if it has sucked for anyone to be anyone I suggest you look in the mirror.
Where the hell do you work that you’ve got coworkers that are self-righteous about you driving to work? Almost everyone who *can* drive does so. Are you sure you’re not insecure and just making this shit up? Or maybe just angry and hateful about your pissy job?
