I’m the owner of 2 large dogs that shit mountains when they take a dump. And if I have to carry a pound of shit around with me as we finish our walk/hike, I do it. Why? Because that’s the first goddamn rule of owning a dog, pick up their shit.
I’m tired of going to very public places like PPPark, or just walking through the neighbourhood and seeing shit or worse, stepping in it. I have dog bags in the back pocket of every pair of pants I own, just out of habit of grabbing more than I’ll need and leaving them in there. I’ve got some in the car if I ever need them. It’s a pretty simple concept really.
I’m fine with carrying around a bag full of warm shit, because I know as long as I’ve got it, no one will step in it. And no animal will come in contact with it, either.

kudos o.p., finally, a responsible dog owner. hopefully this type of thing will really start to catch on. but knowing people like i do, i doubt it very much.
I used to have a pretty big mutt myself and faced the ick factor of carrying around bags’o’poo while on walks, and what *I* don’t get are the people who take the trouble to bag it, then toss the bag somewhere other than in a garbage.
Stupids.

It is truly amazing the number of SETs who seem to be more like ‘pig’ people who own dogs and other animals. Nice to hear from a decent owner who truly knows what to do and does it, caring for their pet and fellow humans. After all a dog does not clean up after itself.

In my (rural) neighbourhood there’s someone who puts the doggy-do into a nice blue PLASTIC bag and then leaves it at the side of the road, carefully preserving the poop for ever.
