I’m the owner of 2 large dogs that shit mountains when they take a dump. And if I have to carry a pound of shit around with me as we finish our walk/hike, I do it. Why? Because that’s the first goddamn rule of owning a dog, pick up their shit.
I’m tired of going to very public places like PPPark, or just walking through the neighbourhood and seeing shit or worse, stepping in it. I have dog bags in the back pocket of every pair of pants I own, just out of habit of grabbing more than I’ll need and leaving them in there. I’ve got some in the car if I ever need them. It’s a pretty simple concept really.
I’m fine with carrying around a bag full of warm shit, because I know as long as I’ve got it, no one will step in it. And no animal will come in contact with it, either. I can understand if you are picking up poop on your own property to keep it clean….but to pick up for other neighbours…is unnecessary work for you.You’re saving and enabling dog owners that task.
klyde, that was my 1st thought too, then I realised he is saying he is picking up his own dogs’ poop when they are in parks, not other dogs’ poop.
and I agree with OP, it drives me nuts to see pooh smack dab in the middle of the paths in rough places, or anywhere at all in groomed places. people get deliberately oblivious. you should know that your dog is going to pooh within 5 minutes of getting to the park.
and yeh, I have pooh bags hanging out of every pocket. and wire cutters. don’t forget the wire cutters for snares. bastards.

just saw that comment klyde! I have the snips ‘in case’. hasn’t happened to mine, but others, so I am prepared. if I see ANYTHING caught in a snare or trap anywhere.
