our work was on facebook, then they banned it. I guess now we’re in the same spot as you…
unless you are newly one of us….
work in scotia square?
Why should you be able to use Facebook at work? Get to work slack ass!
My job involves using facebook – for work related purposes! suckas!
posted at 1:48 on a Wednesday…
Its not ironic at all.
This bitch falls under the 3 Ls: Lame, Lazy and Laughable.
pens, as I’ve been reminded before… it’s posted when the web nazi gets to it…so usually during a work day when he’s in the office doing his work.
I laugh when I hear people say “I use facebook for work”> Makes me fucking wonder the percentage of it being used for work vs the percentage being used to fuck the dog. To me there is zero reason to have crackbook on a workplace computer (same for shit like MSN Messenger). Some people fucking live their lives for facebook There is more fucking time wasted by people surfing the net and chatting with buddies than you would believe. If I owned a business I would put monitors on each and every computer. And no, I am not at work when I am posting this.
Even if the poster did post at 1:48 on a Wednesday, so what? Employees have lunch hours, employees have breaks. A lot of businesses allow a certain amount of web surfing (within reason) during those breaks.
That’s when I post.
TDF- Good for you. However if you were to get an HONEST response from a survey you would find that internet abuse is rampant in the workplace and facebook is one of the biggest culprits.
“If I owned a business I would put monitors on each and every computer.”
That’s a good idea. I get lots more productivity out of computers with monitors. In fact, I can’t use a computer without a monitor at all. 🙂
Bobby, I think people are going to slack off at work whenever and however they can. I’m not sure how much more productivity you get out of blocking certain websites. If they aren’t slacking on they computer, they are picking their nose and staring off into space at their desk. I think I saw a news piece about a year ago that said social networking sites at work actually improve morale and productivity vs having those sites blocked. Most desk jockeys can do their job well and still have time to fart around with other stuff.
Know what? Some businesses use things like Messenger as a tool. I used to get appointment notifications from the front by Messenger. Quick and easy, really. Facebook really isn’t for the workplace though, as there could be a leak of private info.
u can use facebook at work. Connect your internet browers to the newtork with a SSL Porxy. That is what i do. My work can’t block my websites. muhaha
haven’t tried ssl proxy… but something tells me you would need admin rights on your machine to get that going… and they don’t allow that in some places.
Only losers use Facebook. Get a life!
Anyone who does online advertising, marketing, or PR uses Facebook at work, for work. Same goes for Twitter.
As for MSN, many small businesses use it for instant customer service via a chat window on the company’s website or by providing the CSR’s work MSN account to be added by web visitors in case they have any questions and the CSR is online. Bigger companies have more sophisticated chatting application that log data on each chat session between a CSR and a customer, but the small ones in many places around the world prefer to save their money and use the free MSN service.
