What makes me laugh are all the big rigs ripping through town belching smoke – and this ditz gets offended?
Yep. Truthfully, there are a million health hazards out there and I am not defending smokers exposing people to smoke but let’s get serious. It’s as if now it’s become teh one thing in our society that is ok to openly insult even if no negative effect is being felt.
Um…Personally if I cough it’s not to insult you, it’s because I have to cough. Maybe she was trying to knock you down a peg, but please don’t assume all of us who chough when we pass a smoker do it to be insulting.
There was no mistaking this action. It was glaring and obvious. Knock me down a peg? WTF does that mean?
I assumed it was another way of saying she was insulting you. But what do I know.
People are rude and they suck. I used to smoke and would get that from people who were across the street. The worst are people who bum smokes from you all the time, like 3 times a day and when your down and out you ask them for one and they say “sorry man its my last pack”
Almost the same happened to me a few times when I smoked “outside” in designed smoking areas. I look for some insult to hurl back at them. Like one said oh u really should quit that filthy habit and I barked back and YOU really should go on a diet chubby. When they give you “the look”, give it back. Look them up and down and snort when you reach their faces :P. That woman was not bothered by your smoke, she was bothered that you smoked. There’s a difference.
Only assholes smoke, FYI. You deserve to get glared at for being stupid enough to get hooked.
The government allowed people to get hooked and once they are hooked the government ups the price and tells people to quit. By the way there are free programs at the hospital with support meetings and free patches for anyone who wants to quit
The government didn’t get anyone hooked it was each person’s choice. I smopked for 13 yrs and quit almost 9 yrs ago. Smoke does bother me now and people should be considerate of others. On Dec 1 there won’t be anymore smoking in public places. GOOD!

Rude is rude, no matter what the circumstance. That woman has no respect for you, therefore, has no respect for herself. It’s not about smoking, it’s about treating others the way you would want to be treated. Don’t give her another thought, she has to live with her self every day…you don’t.
Well, ‘we don’t smoke here anymore’, i guess i’l have to go back to chew. Then we can see what you find more revolting; a couple of puffs of smoke that disappear in a matter of seconds, or my phlegm riddled tobacco juice spit that I will make sure to discharge in the most inapropriate places possible. The choice is yours.
Maybe the lady was being a little rude and jerkish but Wolfville and surrounding areas have actually been smoke free for a few years now. In dear little Wolfville anyone smoking is supossed to be at least 15 feet from any entrance or so by law if not more. Mind most people never follow that rule having worked in food service in Wolfville for two years at an establishment with outdoor seating I’ve had to tell many a customers to butt out as people in Wolfville who don’t smoke generally don’t take well to smokers toxifying shared air “space.”
