  1. I know how you feel. I have been almost hit many times in the last year trying to cross the street while using crosswalks. I have literly had to run to dodge cars heading right for me, their drivers totally oblivious to me right in front of them. What is wrong with these drivers?

  2. Are you serious? “The light to cross can’t be green – pedestrian signals are white.” You know what the poster meant….. No matter the colour of the light if they had right of way the idiot should have stopped

  5. Yes Jessica I was being serious when I mentioned the colour. Some pedestrians ignore the red “do not walk” light and walk on the green traffic light.

  6. I’m curious, how is it that you are almost getting hit? I’m a driver and a pedestrian about 50/50. How is it that you are walking out if front of a vehicle without making eye contact? Regardless of if you have the right of way or not, If you’re going to have a fight with a car you are going to loose. Too many pedestrians of HRM believe they are invinsible. I have stood at lights and missed the walk light entirely because of bad motorist not knowing/thinking that when it’s a green light and they are turning right there is a possibility that there may be a pedistrian. I would rather miss a walk light than become road pizza. Make eye contact don’t just assume the car is going to stop. I’m trying not to sound like i’m on the drivers side of this argument because they should know to check for pedestrians but if they make that mistake, when they hit you, it won’t kill them.

  7. Not staying in the closet: Yes the light was “white” and had just turned so. What I meant was that I (NOT the driver) had the ok to go.Eastcoastgal: Yes I had paused at the light and made contact with the moron in the other car just to be sure I was ok… I don’t know what the guy was thinking. Originally the car in the turinging lane had stopped but once he saw the oncoming traffic stop (to let me go) the car in the turning lane decided to try and race the light… just as I had stepped down to cross. I am very careful when it comes to crossing the street as I am aware that most motorists have their heads shoved up their asses. (you’ll note I say most)
