I typically enjoy the Bitch section of The Coast as it provides a little peek into the concerns, values and morals of citizens of HRM. The original bitch and the comments that follow provide this insight and are often entertaining as much as they are educational.
What baffles me is the inconsistent moderation of posts and comments despite them not being in violation of any of the “rules of the bitch” It makes me feel that the true representation of the options of people of HRM are being censored.
I respectfully request that The Coast either revise the “rules of the Bitch” or refrain from arbitrarily and inconsistently removing posts and comments. —FreeSpeechPlease

Forget it. It’s not going to change. The Coast has the right to censor whoever they want and they will do so, sometimes without rhyme or reason. Either suck it up or go find a real bitch board where opinions are not heavily censored. I watched some of the most brilliant (and downright hilarious) posters banned and censored over the last five years. Subversion will not be tolerated by this publication. This is a PC paper, therefore it is a PC Bitch Board.
I said it once, and I’ll say it again: If you want free speech, make your own bitch board.
It’s so odd that an “indie” paper would be so PC (as in conservative) versus employing basic journalistic values…
With that said, we commenters are subject to unwritten rules and values which look more like censorship than moderation. Other boards have clear and written rules where this does not.
Requests for clarification and responses from moderators have fallen on deaf ears.
The bitch is valid.

I think after the firefighter scandal, the coast folding like a piece of loose leaf, and then plowing through mods so quickly for so long afterward…
it isn’t barely being used anymore.
People are sick of the bullshit… and all it’s doing is alienating their fan-base.
I must say, I am impressed they posted this.
So one just works within the parameters of the publication. Either that or, like someone suggested, start your own ‘bitch board’. I did. If I want to really let loose, I go there where such comments are a given. I bring my ‘beige’ game to this forum. Most of you couldn’t handle the ‘black’ of my other forum. For example, the FB cops were set on me recently for this horrifying meme:

I posted a comment a few months back where someone responded with ” Daniel, did you smoke one before you wrote that” After responding to that comment myself, the Coast deleted the “Daniel, did you smoke one before you wrote that” comment, leaving it looking as if I was responding to my previous comment in a way that would have been easily seen as having the context of paranoia.
I’m not sure if the Coast had its own agenda there, then again Halifax has a culture where people have to feel special; too many people form any reality that immediately serves their identity/Ego. It’s easy to get roped into the self image cycle that consumes so many poor hipsters that I am sure join the Coast ranks.
Daniel, did you smoke one before you wrote that? Wait, let me smoke one before you respond.

Don’t expect much from this forum, dearheart. The best & the brightest of this board have long flown this censored nest. Accept it for what it is – a heavily censored, politically correct publication meant to appease the hipsters.
