As a student living in Halifax, I get 90 percent of the places I need to go by walking. However, I may be forced to reconsider after the two times I almost lost my life in the last month thanks to a few stupid drivers who feel that their coffee, their cigarettes and their cellphones are more important than everyone else’s lives on the road, or in case of one REALLY incompetent and stupid driver on a cellphone, the lives of the two kids in her car.
I’m in a freakin’ crosswalk, and I walk unusually fast (there are several who have testified to this). Can you at least wait until I’m even halfway across your side of the road before you get inches towards me and almost cause me a freakin’ heart attack at age 21? My god, I’m just glad you’re doing this to me and not somebody who might actually have a heart attack, or worse actually running someone over. Pull your heads out of your asses and PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOU DRIVE!
Driving is a privilege, not a right, that should only be awarded to those who able. The fact that your bf/gf is yelling at you over the phone, you’re late for work school or whatever doesn’t give you the right to break the law. The fact that you’re willing to risk killing somebody for you own selfish and stupid reasons disgusts me. If you end up hitting someone because you were speeding, or on you cell, is telling yourself “I was late for work” gonna make you feel any better or get you out of jail? I sure freakin’ hope the answer is no. —Traumatized Pedestrian

this is a very common complaint…it’s sad what happens to people when they get in their cars. just pretend you are in deathrace 2000
“Driving is a privilege, not a right”
I hate people who say this, you suck.
I think the OB is jealous because they can’t afford a car.
Good bitch. ECHO64, Bro Tim, get fucked
i would love to see you in italy, france, germany, or even saudi arabia then. holy fuck these people are nuts. i have never seen a speed limit posted in any of these places. try crossing the german autobahn, now there’s a fucking run for your life race. actually, i believe it is now against the law to try and cross it anywhere.
The OP is absolutely right. Driving is a privilege. Most people don’t understand that a vehicle is/can be a dangerous weapon.
Ever see people speeding through parking lots? Makes me want to fucking throat punch the shit out of them.
Another thing that really kills me is when people are turning left into a double lane and instead of turning into the inside lane, they just merge into the outside lane like it’s their right to do so. Cutting people off ans slowing other cars down.
People fucking suck. Sorry to hi-jack your bitch.
You have to be an aggressive pedestrian – that means eye contact and wearing a look on your face that fucking means business, like you’re gonna pound your fist on their hood if they crawl another inch closer. A loud comment reinforces your point with lots of gesturing for emphasis. Works for me.
LS,”the german autobahn” is a “highway”. ANY highway. (Remember the bitches arguing between the word ‘street’ and the word ‘highway’, which are the same thing…?) Perhaps you’d also be interested to know closing the autobahn, well, it just doesn’t happen with so many people travelling such a small area. What we could call rescue initiatives… ambulance, air ambulance, tow trucks, insurance adjusters… these services are not so much fueled by the concept of “rescue” in Europe but by the concept of clearing the debris to keep the “autobahn” open. Different motives, equally effective.
I’ve yet to meet an egotistical buttock. I’ll inform you when farts magically spew into my face.
“”Driving is a privilege, not a right””
This such a stupid cliché.
The truth is, if one meets the requirement, e.g. has a valid license…there is little or anything the “gub-ment” can do to prevent one from driving.
It is therefore as much as a ‘right’ as owning a business, selling your farm produce, workng in construction…of any number of things that require a licence.
It’s not a “priveledge” to excercise what we are entitled to under the law…
Make eye-contact with the driver BEFORE stepping foot out on to the street. Don’t assume the driver sees you, if you value your life.
Just don’t cross the street.
Move somewhere that you can live your life on just one block. Or you could try moving downtown where all the buildings And multiple blocks are connected by pedways.
That way us drivers are protected from damaging our cars on your dumb ass.
I agree ES. The problem is just as much to do with pedestrians in this city. Being able to walk is a privilege also, wait that sounds just as stupid as driving being a privilege. My point is people walking in this city have to turn down their ipods, get off their phones and take their heads out of their asses and pay attention to whats going on around them as well. If you almost get hit by a car then you werent paying close enough attention. Cars dont just jump out of worm holes right in front of you. Typically you can see all the way down any street you would be crossing. We learned this in elementary people, look both ways before you cross and make sure cars are actually stopped before you walk onto the road. You know the whole eye contact thing. Jesus my 11 year old can do it just fine. Problem is everyone’s time is to important these days to wait the extra couple of seconds it would take to do that.
It is as much as the walker’s responsiblilty as the driver’s to look around before you go. If you’re watching the cars around you when crossing streets, you’re fine. I always make sure a car is going to stop before I get on the road. Make eye contact with the drivers because you know, they can’t see you if they’re not even looking…duuuh. Not saying it’s your fault, I’m just saying nothign like that happens to me because I look all around before crossing…I guess that’s because I am also a driver ;D.
There are bad drivers everywhere you mother fucking whiners… To piss kay off I would usually say if you dont like it, move… However as per above statement, they are EVERYWHERE… fuck…
