Because of you, my husband’s life is ruined. You first saw him 3.5 years ago and you just keep send him for MRIs, 18 months between each appointment. You just shrugged about the results and said there was an anomoly but never explained further. My husband cannot walk and is in CONSTANT back and leg pain, you have never given him any reason for his condition and dismissed him until our GP insisted for another appointment. Well, you bastard, my husband is completely demoralized, bitter and depressed over the appalling way you treated him. You never even listened to one thing he had to say about the car accident or the fall that put him in this condition. You just booked another fucking MRI which you told him this morning might take a year.
— I hope you lose your fucking practice, you useless quack.

Tell the doctor, not us.
It’s a bitching board. She’s bitching.
Go to http://www.ratemds.com , find the doctor your talking about & give a rating & your explaination why you feel that way.
More & more people are using these web pages to let others know about Quacks & the really great Doctors they come across.
You may even find someone there who you might want to try instead .
Good luck.
MRIs are not magic and show everything. Further, he may not know because nothing is showing. They don’t have all the answers. The fall or accident may not even be playing a part in what’s going on. Again you can get a second opinion.
Let me rephrase that: I hope that you are also telling this to your doctor, and not JUST us.
Gee doc, I have a cold… I think it’s my leg.
2 Thumbs up
MRI’s are incredibly dangerous when they’re frequented by patients like, say, your husband. First, you need a second opinion. Even if it takes driving to Moncton to another specialist. Second, you need to call the specialists office and ask how to file a formal complaint. And lastly (and most important), you need to advocate for your husband and his need for pain management. No one should ever be in chronic pain, ever. There are drugs for that, and if those don’t work, there are stronger drugs. Opioids (like Morphine) have a bad stigma for no good reason, and they can relieve your husbands pain in the right dose. Good luck, and I’m sorry your specialist is such an ass. Mine is too.
Your GP is the one who sends you to the correct specialist doesn’t he? If you think he is going to the wrong person, have a chat with the GP.
If you feel their is an infraction contact and file…

You are quite obviously overwhelmed and sadly we do not have the holistic kinda care we need in NS Health care system for supports and respite…. also if these issues are in hospital you can contact Patient Rep for an inquiry…
keep in mind medicine is a business too…. and with that comes the traits of capitalism including apathy…
Need a formal channel for making the biggest stink possible? Listen to mcgayle. *rolls eyes*
Escalate, OP. Escalate.
That’s better mcgayle, nice and short, only five dot clusters!
By “holistic kind care” do you mean new age herbal bullshit? Because it’s all bullshit, all of it. Especially when it prevents patients from going to real doctors, you know the ones who spent six years in med school. And if you think new age bullshit “medicine” is above succumbing to the traits of capitalism and apathy you are sorely mistaken.
BAM
LOL….well it could include new age bullshit however in this context I was meaning that people are ushered into medical care, operated on and pushed out the door….
The system has forgotten that care and healing require many segments for total care…. and that we neglect to cater to them or think of them. Once upon a time when you had a baby someone came to your home to make sure you were okay and gave you an info pkg to get connects in your own community…remember the Welcome Wagon…..
In the OP case just doing MIR and sending folks home is just not ‘care’…it is not the HOLE package…this couple should be connected with support groups etc…. It is usually up to the integrity and wellness of the doctor…..
A good doctor IS a holistic doctor because they look at the WHOLE picture= whole-istic medical care 😉
If you are selling anything you are part of the CAP system of course…but there are great folks out there that are also about actually getting you well….
Synthetic scripts versus supplements should always be a personal choice….
I prefer natural things
Bro Tim: you really CAN’T get a second opinion in our healthcare system when it comes to specialists. It’s pretty much take who you can get. It’s a huge flaw in the system, because there are some SHITTY ass specialists in the system.
Problem with specialists is they generally only see patients on average of 1/3 of their time — the other 2/3s is spent teaching and researching.
We’re all pretty much FUK’D.
20 years ago, they’d put you in hospital until they found out what was wrong – now you have to jump through fucking fiery anal hoops to get a specialist appointment through your GP. The time periods one has to wait for tests are inhuman.
Not meaning to be graphic…
Once upon a time no matter what you had done… they kept you until you had a BM…
Now they don’t give a crap..
sorry had to 😉
Don’t diss the BM. Your bowels are one of the best indicators of things gone wrong. It’s important, for all of us, to pay attention to our bowel habits. Also, holistic doesn’t just mean that “new-age herbal bullshit”. Holistic can also mean patient-centred care focused on finding a cause, not treating a symptom.
I so agree Heathro…… I was just teasing about the bowel…..and yes it is vital to our health and all the more they should still be using it as a measure for when folks are sent home…. this drive-thru style is just so inhumane and lacks any consideration for the patient
‘The system has forgotten that care and healing require many segments for total care’..
I contemplative my asshole quite regularly – pucker – unpucker – pucker…
It’s public health care, controlled by the government. Why do you expect better ? You get better service at Sobeys or Tims or even the local car dealer.
Raise shit, get into the docs office and act as a witness, write down all your questions, then write down all the answers.Tell him you want the MRI ASAP and ask him what he expects to learn from the MRI. Ask about all the options for your husband. Try to stay calm before raising more shit.
TTFN I didn’t think you’d be the kind of gal who cared to do Kegels…
government versus privatization……….
Someone should tell the bitches Canada has one of the best health care systems in the world, long wait times notwithstanding.
mcgayle, “Synthetic scripts versus supplements should always be a personal choice”…
I agree the patient’s personal preference comes into play but, until the patient has a degree in microbiology and/or pharmacology, their “choice” to take a supplement over a prescribed medication is simply stupid stupid stupid… and that has NOTHING to do with privatization, another stupid stupid stupid concept (I’m surprised you, of all bitches, would play that card!)
mcgayle, “this drive-thru style is just so inhumane”
Care to elaborate on that? Has anybody died as a result of early discharge from a day surgery? A number of procedures have become day-surgeries (as opposed to 7-10 day hospital stays) with the introduction of laparoscopic technologies. Chances of post surgical infection is reduced exponentially using this technique. Longer hospital stays are expensive and can lead to hospital-born post-surgical infections so please elaborate on what is “inhumane” about day surgery? I would think not giving it to you at all or slicing you open 6-8 inches like they used to would qualify as “inhumane” so what are you talking about, mcgayle?
