In a corporate plutocracy such as ours in which the owners of corporations and the international money managers have free government money in the form of enormous government subsidies lavished upon them, the real welfare bums are the top 2%. But you’re right about the rest – the working and middle classes – providing the money. For the corporate plutocracy, it’s a win-win situation. They get the free government money and can fire the unskilled service proletariat on a whim.
But you’re wrong about the “unemployed hippies.” Look up, not down.

At least it was a legitimate protest as the snow clearing, both streets and sidewalks, have been abysmal. The city raised taxes and said they would clear the sidewalks. Now we are not talking about sidewalks and roads outside of the urban area but in the centre that have 3-4 inches of ice, not clear, etc. Exactly what are we paying taxes for? Then the snow removal people keep patting themselves on the back, saying they’ve done a wonderful job and a mayor who says people who call 311 to complain are stupid. I will agree that anyone who voted for that moron is an idiot.
I’m just pleased that a “peaceful protest” on Gottagun Street didn’t degenerate into the usual Special Olympics Loot and Burn Biathalon.
Although a few strategically placed bonfires might have reduced some of the ice buildup.

Friday was neither snowing nor minus 20, a rarity these last few weeks. They gotta protest when they can.
The protest was peaceful mostly because the local anarchist cells were warm at home playing Grand Collectivization Auto VI and Call of Duty: Catalonia.
Well at least it wasn’t another [useless] ‘make tuition free’ protest.
Do believe a protest is just what it is { trying to get a point across to people }.But do agree their are many wellfare bums who do absolutely nothing except drink ,smoke their weed & sleep.Many people from other provinces & countries come here to NS because it is the best deal going for wellfare.Come from another country with no life skills & we give them rent ,travel allowance & feed them. Also free english classes.Know guy who can’t afford a pot to piss in ,our tax dollars take care of him yet at Xmas time he managed to come up with a twoway plane ticket to Toronto & a two week stay.How do they do that when they are broke ?

in 2011, federal social transfers intended for social assistance spending in the provinces came to about $6.6 Billion, according to canadian social research, (among others who crunched the same numbers). According to the commies at the Fraser Institute, they estimate corporate welfare in canada at about $6.4 Billion (and i’m sure we could boost that number quite a bit if we went with a study conducted by a less ideological think tank). one study published in the national post business section said we’ve doled out $684 Billion in corporate welfare the last 30 years.
so unless you’re also willing to call guys in business suits bums who do nothing but drink, sniff their coke, and sleep at their desks while the gov’t cheque clears just in time for the executive bonuses to get handed out, your analysis ain’t worth much.
