I’d like to acknowledge the Metro Transit Operator of route #20 who, at about 5:30 p.m. on September 14 on Mumford Road almost pushed a family of four into oncoming traffic. You don’t own the fucking road. Cars have to yield to you as you pull away from a bus stop. I get that. I support that. But when you decide to make a lane change as you go around a bend on Mumford road, you don’t have the right to push the car that is already beside you into oncoming traffic to do so. You didn’t have enough room between the car infront of you (whose ass you were already up) and the car that was beside you, about ‘mid-bus’. But you moved over anyways causing the sedan infront of me to slam on the breaks and nearly swerve into oncoming traffic. You don’t own the fucking road. Next time, don’t be so reckless. —C

I thought the driving habits of these unionized twits was bad, but I think it is way worse since they were given this yield to bus law. The other day I was coming through a green light (Cogswell and Brunswick) to go onto Barrington North. A Metro X bus came barreling out of that side street, completely ignoring the stop sign, crossing two lanes of road (technically he should turn right in the right lane and then merge into the left…) right in front of me; I had to lock up the wheels. Why? I’m sure I’d be the one getting the ticket thanks to the NDP’s idiotic idea.
Pulling out in traffic without any concern for other drivers is now a daily occurrence in my travels.
OP, where on Mumford road was this? was it going towards the mall or away from the mall? this is kind of important information that is missing, if the bus was going towards the mall was then I can see this as a somewhat vaild bitch, but if the bus was going away from the mall it stays in that lane doesn’t switch or anything, so if that sedan had to slam on the brakes it was the sedan’s fault it had to.
Yeah, I’ve been noticing this shit too and was going to write a bitch about it so thanks OP. I agree with Al Bundy, since this law passed some of these drivers think they have carte blanche to pull out whenever they feel like it. I always look to see if their signal light is on and if it’s not I go to pass them, if it is I yield. That’s the rule right? So when I’m beside you, you can’t just pull out and force me into the other lane. I’ve had it done to me twice in the last week.
Call Metro Transit and report the driver. You have the time, the bus route # and where it occured so they should be able to determine who was driving the bus at that time/place. Lodge a formal complaint so that it can be officially documented in this driver’s file.
Yeah, or I could masturbate for 20 minutes, that’d be a better use of my time, avast. I’m done reporting anything to those jerks, nothing ever gets done. I take it up with the driver myself.
Whoa, whoa, Tommy! What YOU do in the privacy of your own home is strictly between you and the Metro Transit phone operator. I don’t need, nor want, to hear about it. 😉
i was gonna say, yowzah, twenty minutes eh thomas? that would be a long phone call^^
Metro Transit denies it. They only employ responsible drivers. Bullshit. The car should have let the bus smash into it…..would love to see Metro Transit weasel its way out of that illegal move Was it a female bus driver?
lol I’ve spent enough time talking to them to know that it’s a total waste of time. At least my alternative decreases stress instead of the opposite. After on of their drivers screamed in my face, put his hands on me and threatened me, and they did fuck all, I’ve decided that from now any driver that pisses me off is getting dealt with directly and immediately.
I should have filed charges against that fucking gorilla.
I’m guessing the driver didn’t check his blind spot before changing lanes, get the info and make a call. Tommy, I’ll bet the driver you dealt with did earn himself a suspension, but they aren’t allowed to tell you or me that info. Suspensions at Transit are without pay, we’re not the police department.
I will admit Bundy that I have gotten a bit more assertive since the law passed, but not to the point where I’m going to cause injuries and/or property damage. But I’m not going to dispute your claim.
i believe you missed the bullitin on the news last ear o.p., yes they do, as part of hrm, they really do.
Strange how drivers that try to cooperate with each other seem to have less accidents. Whoddathunkit?
Hmm, funny about that PDG.. why can’t we know about suspensions? Why can we air out a cop’s business on the 6:00 news but not a bus driver’s? They’re both public employees right?
And I feel like they should do something for the customer in a scenario like that, maybe a few bus tickets of something, because if any employee of any business ever treated me like that I bet I would get offered some free shit.
Furthermore if I ever acted like that at my job or any job I’ve ever had or probably will have, I’d be fired on the spot, possibly charges filed.
I feel, however, that bus drivers for some reason are treated differently than everybody else. It’s a tough job, I acknowledge, and many of them do it really well, I just get a bit of an SET vibe from many of them.
What makes their job more important and protected than someone else’s? Someone whose taxes support MT? That’s the big question I keep asking myself when dealing with that company.
They seem to think, and have reason to think, that they can operate in a way that no other entity does. Basically with complete immunity.
I just don’t get it. Perhaps you can enlighten me.
Yes, they have no competition, but dammit they play a big role in this city’s sustainability, and the more people get fed up with their shit, and stop using their services the worse off our city ultimately will be. I feel like they could do more to act on this responsibility. To be fair the blame ultimately goes to the city, not MT.
One of the first things people bring up when they talk about how great cities like Montreal or Toronto are is their transit systems and how convenient and hassle-free it is to get around. I feel like MT’s shitty service and lack of funding is holding this city back in a big way.
Phew, it’s been a while since I gave a good rant.
I’m done now.
